Old Me Eating......Getting Blurry.....
Well, almost 2.5 years out.........
I just realized I had to think real hard to remember the quantity I used to eat.....
It has been a long slow transition.......but Large Plate Normal American portions seem to be in my distant memory.
Sure..... I see big plate eating going on all around me.....and at first, in the early post-op days.......it was nothing but en vie.......Now, doesn't phase me.....not my reality anymore......
Now when I see more than 3-4oz. of food on my plate......the red flags go up and my micrometer eyes are drawing lines on the food on my plate to cut out the proper portion for me.
Even with proper portions.....I'm now getting comfortable leaving a few bites left on my plate.......and I'm now OK throwing that food out...... I used to save those 2-bite leftovers in the fridge.....ended up with many baggies in the fridge with tiny food in them....lost track which was which.....end up chucking it out anyway.....

Do you ever have days where you "graze"?
Today was one of those days for me. I'm not sure why, but my guess is that I've recently started my old job/work again and find my time "stressed".
I think this is why I put on so much weight to begin with. (thinking out loud)
I know what you're saying about seeing a plate and mentally cutting it up. I do that now, mostly because of a couple episodes of over eating. (not pretty)....(good lesson).
Thanks for all your freely given knowledge,
donna
Oh yah...... Eating Almonds right now as I type this........
Sometimes if my grazing is a litlle much I'll try and make it up without a meal.....or just another snack instead of a meal......At the end of the day your/my totals are what counts......

This was SO important to me to be able to do especially because I now have kids, when they say they are finished and there is food still on their plate I have to fight every urge to say "you know, there are starving kids in whatever country kids are currently starving in", but I don't want it for them, I want them to toss out the last few bites without ever feeling guilt over it, I want them to know from the start that they don't have to eat everything in front of them because it's wasteful not to. I don't want them to grow up to be me when it comes to food.
It's crazy how some of this stuff gets in your head and even when you know it's insane you still want to keep it as a habit.
