196.4

This makes me very happy. I went away for my annual business trip. Living in hotels and at the various meetings where junk is freely available contributed to the gluttony. Prior to surgery I used to gain about 10 to 15 pounds. I weighed 196.2 when I left on 1/20/12. It's great that I was able to maintain.

At first it was difficult without a scale. I tried using the one the hotel had in the Gym but it was broken. When I first got on the Hotel scale it said I weighed 218. I knew it was wrong and tried to use it as a baseline but the scale was very wacky. I couldn't take it any more and went to CVS and purchased a scale for $10. I guess I'm a scale addict.

Lowest ever since being like the 7th grade and WLS.

I know it's a false read....cause all the Stars were lined up if ya know what I mean....

Mikey.....

Don't get me wrong....I believe in daily weighing.
In the beginning......when people say throw the scale away....yah right. I weighed at least once a day during and well through WL.

But, what I learned from traveling.... with no scale and combat eating..... made me much more conscious of what I ate.

I would say that in the last 6 months I've only weighed myself about 20 times...... It really keeps me on edge.... My analogy is "Like taking the training wheels off" or "Taking the net away from my high wire act"

Kinda like right now.... I just weighed light....under my range....my mind automatically goes to "I can eat more" or "I might get a muffin today with my Starbucks" or "French Fries"

Now...that said..... I'm getting pretty used to what's going on....like yourself and many others here, you get to the point where your balances are pretty automatic and you get a finer feel for it.

Now don't even think for second that I may becoming over confident..........Noooo.....I'm terrified of regain..... I know with confidence when I'm blowing it and need to reel it in.....I'm just saying with more experience you really do get a feel for it without a scale.....I know I'm never gonna be that normal person that weighs once a year at the doctors office.

You're much further out than I am. Hopefully with time I'll be where you are.

My inital intention was to give up the scale for the 3 and 1/2 weeks that I would be traveling. But after a week I couldn't do it anymore. It was like I needed a fix and had to get a reliable scale.

I still need that accountability. Not ready to loose the training wheels yet.

122..  grrrrr  up from my low of 118.5.   ate at a fancy restaurant last night but kept to my calorie rules and counted it up. go figure. hope its just the natural fluctuation. whined about it at support group. dr. told me to lose the 2 lbs. guess i'd better just to feel in control.   diane

JMHO, but day to day flucutations seem to be the norm, up or down 1-2 lbs. Whenever we eat out, the sodium content of restaurant is always higher than what we normally eat on day to day basis, and I tend to weigh 1-2 lbs more. I try to keep within a 2 lb range, because keeping the same weight day after day isn't really that possible (at least for me), if we have some variety in our diet and eat out sometimes. If you are down tomorrow, then you will know that it was excess sodium.

At Christmas, I ate out and had oysters. I was up 1.8 lbs the next day. I chalked it up to the salt content of the oysters and other restaurant food. It was gone within a day or two.

Up 3.2 from Saturday???? Sometimes I just don't get the huge fluctuations. I'm hoping it is excess sodium intake and will be gone quickly.
