Do you still drink protein drinks?

I think it's an individual thing. I'm almost 2 years and drink 1 to 2 shakes a day.

I work out hard. I do Crossfit and I'm training for a 1/2 marathon so my protein goal is around 100 gms a day. I'm also done losing weight and don't want to lose any more.

In order to physically get in enough calories so I don't go into a deficit and to get my protein in I HAVE to drink the shakes. I'm even adding coconut milk to the shakes now to get even more calories and fat in.

I guess if drinking shakes makes you take in too many calories and you can get your protein in without them, then go for it.

I've never understood this philospy because the body absorbs whey protein better than it does any other kind, eggs and meat following that and nuts being the worst.

You just need to find what works for you, your sleeve capacity, and your exercise habits.

I'm 3.5 years out and I have a protein shake most days and sometimes also a protein hot chocolate.

IMO Protein drinks are "real" food. They have calories and nutrition just like meat. And, if you have one every day, that means you can use some of the limited space in your tummy for things like veggies and not have to work so hard to get all your protein in. Plus, I usually am not able to eat anything too substantial in the AM and sometimes a protein shake is the only thing that goes down.

I eat about 150-200 g of carbs a day. But I burn at least 1700 calories a day and more when I'm activel working out so I eat more than a lot of people. I still watch the carbs but mostly so I can get all my protein in. If I eat too many carbs, there is no room for protein.

As for stopping, I had to be more active in stopping my weight loss becaus my body tends to go into a mode when I am dieting where it stops telling me to eat. Plus I was training for a Half Ironman and burning a ton of calories. But most people don't have to do that. The weight loss just gradually tapers off.
