Does anyone know their RMR?

So I had an InBody scan yesterday. It is a test to measure your LBM (lean body mass) your Fat Mass, water, etc. It can also tell you where your muscle is located. For instance, my left leg is stronger than my right leg (just barely) and my right arm is stronger than my left arm (I am right handed.)

ANyway, my RMR (resting metabolic rate) is 1459, so I'm not exactly sure how that translates. Apparently that is the amount of calories I burn doing absolutely nothing (just laying on the couch, etc.) So then when I exercise I can add whatever cals I burn from that to the number, etc.

Right now I'm still trying to follow a diet of 800 cals, 80g protein, and

That sounds interesting & I would love to have one done as well.  Do most insurances pay for this & if not,  how much am I looking at out of pocket?

yep, i had mine tested a year ago as a part of determining how to maintain weight loss. mine was 936!!!! no wonder i got so fat.  my doctor thinks that the test was wrong so someday i will do it again.

fyi, you don't need to go to a doctor - lots of health clubs and places and universities have the machine to do this and other tests like body fat. i did mine at a business that kind of caters to body builders and athletes but i know my local state college has the equipment in the kineseology department.    Diane

RMR is the amount you burn just sitting around all day. It's slightly higher than BMR which the amount you'd burn if you lay on the couch all day. (Because sitting takes slightly more calories than laying down even if they don't always feel that different.)

I have a BodyMedia FIT and it says I burn .9 calories a minute while I sleep. So that means my BMR is 1296.

Knowing your BMR is good once you start to maintain or if you go into an extended stall. But while I was still losing, I didn't worry about it too much.

Thanks ladies. Apparently the rest of my post actually got cut off! (I haven't been back to check in a few days and I honestly don't remember what else I said, but I guess OH ate the rest of my post!)

I think I was saying I'm trying to follow the 800/80 (cals/protein) and doing fairly well, although some days are higher than others (a high day might reach into the 1,100 cal range for me.) So far this year already I've lost about -6lbs but seem to have stalled again. So I will keep on keeping on.

Also I will check my paperwork to see if this is a BMR or an RMR, I didn't realize there was a difference, thanks for clearing that up!

Anyway, thanks so much for your input.

I had mine done and it was 1348 but the really important thing about that readout for me was my lean mass to fat ratio.  I had it done because I'm a slow loser and what  discovered was that lean mass to fat ratio was way off.  I was losing my lean mass, from years of extreme dieting, even though i was working out.  so i have begun to pay close attention to weights in an attempt to right it so my loss can accelerate.  It's a fascinating workout isn't it.  Especially since the whole left side of my upper body sucks muscle wise. So while i have a bmi of 27 i'm a really fat 27.  Good times
