Yes, my B-complex has 100 mg of B1, and I have been taking that along, plus there is some in the two multis I take daily, and I'm still a little low. Just a peculiarity of my body, I guess...

Which B complex do you use? I used to use the Costco B100, but they were difficult to swallow post-op and caused some GI upset, which seems to be a common problem. Because of this issue, the Bariatric dept recommended the B1 tablet by itself. The multivits also contain some B vitamins. I'm only taking one multivit/day, because my Vit A was high, so I was advised to cut back to one multivit/day.

I've tried several, but it's usually the Costco B100, and I agree--they are difficult to swallow and always cause some nausea. I also tried Country Life Coenzyme B-Complex, which I like--smaller and no nausea, but they only have 50 mg of B1. However, now that I'm taking a separate B1, I may go back to that once I get my level back up, since I'd still have 150 mg (plus the small amount in the multi). That's interesting about the Vit. A--it was on my lab sheet to draw, but I never got back results, so they either omitted it or screwed up the test. But I didn't follow up on it to have it retested, and maybe I should!

I'm in the same spot, Lizanne.  I take generic protonix twice a day due to gastritis, and still get a little acidy every so often, so I take Pepcid probably a couple times a week when needed.  I worry about osteopena or osteoporosis but the stomach acid is a serious problem too.

I don't take B1, does it need to be taken sublingually?  Or can we take a pill/capsule?

I'm sorry you're still having acid problems, too! I hope it will die down for you...

No, B1 doesn't need to be taken sublingually as we absorb it just find in our stomachs, but we just don't get enough of it in our diets. You should probably just add a good B Complex capsule that has 100 mg of B1...

Oh, I certainly can see him forever. He didn't bill me for this consultation and meeting at all, but the original program I signed up for included 3 years of complete support with the nutritionist, etc. And I haven't really needed anything, lol! I've always used his list of labs but had my PCP put in the order, etc. since it is more convenient. This was the first year I didn't provide LapSF with a copy, but I will in the future...

My fee covered 23 months of follow-up but I've seen him 3x since then and haven't been billed either. I think he's pretty free with the follow-up, in fact.

thanks for posting this, I learned some things.  just had labs drawn for the 3rd time in 3 1/2 years and I'm anxious to see what they say.

I have to take omeprazole twice a day and I do worry about calcium absorption. but the acid is worse.

I am having MORE coffee as I type this. I try to cut down and then when I have insomnia I crank back up to function...

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.
