To wait or not to wait?

Hello there
I could really use some advice from this wonderful board.

I have lost a bunch of weight and I am now at 148ish give or take a pound. I am 5'6" and a size 6 in most clothes. I am 38 and done having kids.

My question is how long should I really wait before having a tummy tuck? I was told at least a year by my doc but do you suggest longer? I would love to have it sooner than later but would rather do it once and have it done right.

Any advice would be much appreciated!
Thanks!!!

A year is about right. A lot of weight redistribution happens after you hit goal and the skin continues to snap back for a while but by a year I found everything was where it was going to be.

It's usually 6 months to a year of being at a stable weight.

Thanks. That sounds like great advice. I am just so excited to get rid of my front pouch but sounds like it is really worth the wait

I was within 5-6 pounds of my surgery weight since last April.  My surgeon told me that I could continue losing slowly up to the time of my surgery but it was only 5 pounds that came off.  I've dropped 10 pounds since surgery 5 weeks ago.  I'm hoping it all stays gone!

Every surgeon is different, so ask at your consults what they recommend.

How did all of your surgeries go? How exciting that you were able to have all of that done! I really am wanting to have a tummy tuck, breast and thigh lift but have to see what the doc says. How was it doing it all at once? Congrats on more weight loss! How fantastic! I would love to lose more but I have been holding here for a bit. Not sure it is going to happen.

Everything went great.  My surgeon uses an epidural and twighlight sleep so he was able to operate for many hours.  I was able to do it all because I was in a clinc for five nights, then in a hotel for six nights with a daily visit from my surgeon and a two hour daily visit to my hotel from his nurse who bathed me, dressed my incisions, washed my compression garments and dressed me.

I took a good friend with me for the two week trip to Mexico for emotional and physical support.

Good luck!

How amazing! Hope you are feeling well and recovering fast. I look forward to the day that I can have my plastics and finish what I started
