VSG Maintenance Group
Almost to goal - 10 pounds to go!!!
Hi,
I am new to this group. I have not been this weight for about 20+ years - and I am so excited.
My question is, it sounds like lots of people have decided to go below their original goal. I am just so thrilled now, and cannot believe I am almost to 140! At first I picked 135, then 150, then 140 is what I settled on. I am almost 5'3" so I will be just within the normal BMI, is it OK - or should I try and go below in case I have bounce back weight gain?
I am going to Weigh****chers for ongoing support and also to help maintain (it is more convenient than my surgeon's group) once I reach my goal of 140 there.
Just wanted to introduce myself. I am so happy with my sleeve and looking forward to getting to know everyone!

I think a goal weight is a very personal thing. You really need to do decide what's best for you. I know others will say it's best to go lower so if you do go up slightly you are still within healthy limits. Others, like myself, have a set weight that if my weight gets to that point, I will take drastic measures to get it back down. I still weigh myself everyday for accountability and to see if I'm gaining. So far, I have stayed within a 2 pound range.
Congratulations on your journey thus far. How exciting for you!
At 22 months out I'm still trying to get my weight lower. That bounce back sounds way too scary after coming this far. My thoughts are go lower f you can.
Ive been going to WW since early last year. I weight myself daily and go to WLS support group twice a month, but wanted the additional layer of accountability. I've been on so many diets in my life and have never been successful until I got my Sleevie. I don't want to jeopardize my success by ever going into denial.

Hi and welcome. Congrats on your success.
I bet when you get to that goal of 140 that you will easily be able to decide if you like that weight or want to lose a little more. a couple of pounds lower sure wont hurt but its how you feel that matters most. Bet you will be seeing that goal really soon! Diane

yeah, I agree with Diane, you'll know if you want to keep losing or not. My original goal was 145, but I changed it twice. I am also 5 ft 3, and I settled on a goal of 127. I just liked the way it sounded. I reached 120 last week, and just dropped below that this morning. I may rebound back up a few lb. Have been staying about 124 for several months, until I started losing again over the last few weeks. Time will tell.
Congratulations on your wt loss, and I know you'll be below goal weight very, very soon.

I'm also 5'3". My goal is 124. I'm currently at 137 where I've been for about a month. The last pounds are putting up some resistence, but in fairness, between the holidays, a bout of tonsilities, and travelling back/forth to south Florida for a family emergency/funeral have not been working in my favor.
I will tell you that I certainly feel like I can take off another 10-15lbs without being 'too thin.' I'm 44, active, and I exercise a good bit.
Good Luck!
