I can run!

I know I haven't been posting often.  I'm still around and doing well, holding my weight on the low side of my happy range.

But yesterday was one of the happiest days that I have had in about a year.  About a year ago, I had a fall and ended up with knee surgery that went wrong.  After a year of frustration and finally turning to other forms of exercise, I went back to therapy and I was able to run for the first time yesterday!  I'm mean, not a lot, but it's a start.  I'm excited not so much for the running, but what it means to me- that I will be able to continue to heal and live a life with a full range of motion.  My knee can withstand things that it did before, and for this I'm so grateful!  I now know that I can stand the pounding that allows me to do so many things, like dancing, weight training, boot camp, hiking, etc.

Just had to share the great news!

What wonderful news for you!!!! Knee injuries are very difficult to come back from.

That's fantastic - I also have had chronic knee damage following a fall and subsequent surgery - and have to baby it along still - so I know how great it is when you can suddenly do something that was impossible before (for me it was jumping rope ;-) ).

Congratulations!

Yes, I understand about the babying part.  I know I have a long way to go still.  It was just that I had so many goals that I was aiming for that involved running(1/2 marathon I was training for, sprint triathlon) and giving up on them got me down.  At least now I can envision maybe attempting my goals again :)
