The holidays have kicked my ass. Rather I have kicked my own ass. I've been eating way too many sweets and snacking. This is my losing week and yet I've gained :(

Today - 129.4
Yesterday - 129.6
Preferred weight - 120 - 125
Lowest weight - 126.2

I'm grateful that I have not gained more than the 2 lbs that I gained recently.  My youngest son and his girlfriend are leaving tomorrow.  My oldest son will be leaving on January 2nd, so I will be alone and not cooking for others.  While I have barely eaten the extra holiday foods, I have muffins, homemade bread, pumpkin pie and candy in the house...and I've been nibbling a little on it.

I never got down to my original goal of 120 - 125, so will work on that goal next.  I'm going to hire a personal trainer to help me get into a good routine.  2012 will be the year to complete my weight loss journey and maintain while increasing my strength training.  I will have a follow up dexa scan to see if my bone density has increased or whether I need to take one of the medications.  I'm hoping I can avoid the drugs and use exercise, vitamin D and calcium to improve my bones.  The parathyroid tumor I had removed in 2010 did a number on my bone density.

I'm looking forward to 2012.  I think it will be a good year.
I made Elina's green chicken soup and will be eating a LOT of that this week....

Birdie,

The best thing that I did during my weight loss journey, besides the logging and measuring of food, was hiring a personal trainer during my 4th post-op month. In the beginning, it was just to get me to the gym, plus I felt weak from the rapid weight loss and I looked like a melted candle. During the past year, I have continued to work on the strength training, but have added things like TRX and Spin classes to my workout regimen. I like to change things up. I am so much stronger and have more endurance than I ever thought that I would have. I have developed more muscle mass, which I think helps to keep my metabolic rate up and I have more energy. I still have my share of loose skin, but it would be so much worse without the strength training.

Good luck!! The strength training will also help your bone density, as well as walking, jogging, and any exercise that gives you that heel strike, which stimulates bone growth.

Thanks for the info, Gail.
I joined Curves 9 months ago and have been pretty faithful to that two or 3 times a week.  This summer realizing I needed more than Curves, I tried a workout at a real gym.  Unfortunately that tweeked my back and I spent a month recovering from that.

I've been back to Curves since then, but want more strength training with consideration to my back.  So, I'm sure a trainer will be willing to work with me to customize a plan.  I do walk and job a little, but want a more structured plan.  It's too easy to skip exercise without a plan.

I'm going to contact him today...I'm kind of excited about it.

I think Curves is great for people just starting out, but after awhile, your body needs more pushing and challenge, which I don't think Curves offers. A plan sounds good. A personal trainer is my foundation for 2-3 strength workouts/week, gets me to the gym,  and I fill in the rest with 2-3 Spin classes or TRX. I need to add more flexibility work to my regimen, so yoga classes are on my agenda for the coming year. I may also try Zumba again, which is supposedly a fantastic workout, but I am not very coordinated, so I'll have to see how that one works out.
