at over a year out how many calories do you eat?
I am almost 14 months out, I weigh 168, but would like to get to 160lbs. My doc wanted me to get to 145lbs(im guessing to give myself le-way of gaining a few over time) but I have been stuck at 168 for 2 months. The only thing I can gather is im probably not getting enough protein, and thats most likely my problem..im lucky if i get like 40gms a day (protein drinks powder makes my stomach turn) any suggestions? I dont exercise much as I have an autoimmune disease that acts up often.
At two years out I still aim for 70 g protein per day as per doctors orders. I also hate protein drinks. I get protein from GY every morning for breakfast, tuna or cheese and grapes at lunch, chicken or fish or beef for dinner and a blob of peanut butter at night. almonds too. Also skim milk. you should be able to get the protein in without the drinks.
Every time i feel like i want something to eat, I ask myself if dense protein sounds good. If it does, I have some, If it doesn't sound appealing, I figure that I am not really hungry.
I stayed at 600 to 800 calories during weight loss but now stay under 1200 to maintain. I don;t exercise much either

I can tell you how many calories I eat but that doesn't really mean anything... everyone's different with their calorie requirements. I burn 1450-1650 on days I don't exercise and on days I do it can be anywhere from 1700 to 3000 depending on what I do.
I do try to get a minimum of 100 grams of protein in every day. My protein tends to run from 110 to 170 g depending on how many calories I eat and if I'm go about making all my meals protein based or lazy about it.

It depends on your height, activity level, muscle mass, age, and any other assorted things. What one person's caloric intake is, can be vastly different from yours.
I am 4'11 and take in about 1400-1600 cal/day, depending upon my activity level. My muscle mass is relatively high according the hydrostatic body fat test that I had done a couple of months ago, so I know that I am doing okay.
There are many sources of protein. If you can't stomach the protein shakes, what about adding unflavored protein powder to Greek Yogurt, soups, cottage cheese, and anything else that you can think of. 40 mg of protein/day isn't nearly enough for anyone. You have most likely lost quite a bit of lean muscle mass, which will lower your metabolic rate and slow or halt your weight loss. You need at least 70-80 grams of protein/day. An online tracking tool could help you to track the amount of protein, as well as other nutrients.

I'm 22 months out today, 61 yrs old and 5'4.
I was stuck at 168 after Christmas last year. In January I logged every bite on myfitnesspal.
I had to keep calories between 900-1000 with less than 40 carbs and 80 protein to lose. I gain at 1100 calories. I gain immediately if I eat white flour, rice etc. Fruit also made me gain. I decided to give it up to shed the pounds. I did have the occasional treat but it was a treat.
I exercise 6-7 days a week, Pilates and walking.
My kaiser plan says no shakes so I never really had them, but I do buy high protein, low carb pudding from vitamin shoppe to have for breakfast sometimes. I do eat one Quest bar most days for the additional protein and fiber.
Congratilations on all of your success! You've done terrific and will let go of these sat pounds! :)
