VSG Maintenance Group
New member introduction
Hi all,
I'm 6 pounds from goal, but mentally I feel like I need to read what y'all are saying. I like the main board, but sometimes the lack of topics for folks other than pre- and immediate post-ops means I have to dig through to get stuff relevant to where I'm at. I still like to read & give support, but my mind set is moving to maintenance.
I've been a faithful OHer since my surgery in April. I've lost over 90% of my excess weight, feeling really comfortable and strong. I'm up to regular push-ups which I honestly thought I'd never be able to do. I'm doing some distance bicycling (50 miles max so far). Activity and strength feel like my easy zone.
Nutritionally, I worry sometimes that I'm not getting enough volume of vegetables--anyone else with that concern and/or advice?? I typically get about three small servings per day (spinach, broccoli, asparagus, salad).
I'm moving toward giving up protein shakes, but haven't done it yet. I do a premier protein shake in the morning and like that I can take my vitamins soon after. Water in general is no problem for me. Fiber, not so much, and ongoing constipation is the closest thing I've got to a complication.
Here are some recent pics of me & my family--the first family portraits given my previous hatred of pictures of me.

Welcome to the group and congrats on your success. This group is open to anyone and is all about the issues that arise beyond the early stages and there are lots of near-goal folks so you are in the right place.
Looks like you are doing really well. I too still wonder about getting enough veggies. If you have green things several times a day you are doing better than me as i usually get one fruit and one veggie. Gotta work on that.
Maintaining is a lifelong project so I hope we can keep this group going for the long haul.
