Introduction - It's Lucy from A Year + Ago! Feeling FAT Again

Greetings everyone!

I thought I might see of my old buddies around here and catch up with you all.

I'm here because, while I'm 20 lbs from my goal, I think this is it.
When I first lost the weight (I hit 170 about 4 months ago and have only seen 169 *once*), I felt THIN.   I've  lost the
thrill my wl and am now "feeling fat" again.  Don't know if this is nuts or normal, but I realize I was *really* fat before and now I'm just ... fat ... like any other overweight person :(.

I wasn't someone who was heavy through life.  So, at first the weight loss was just a return to my former self, accompanied by relief at seeing my "old" self in the mirror.  Now, ugh ... I guess I'm reminded of the way I went UP to 170 so many years ago.

Does any of this make sense?  I'm not very caffeinated this AM?

Big hearts, Lucy

Lucy!!!

How the heck are you doing girlfriend!!  I'm still around, but that's because this is like my daily support meeting, which I need daily/hourly to keep me on track .

I ask you are you REALLY trying to lose the 20lbs and what are you doing differently month to month?  Have you decreased your calories and increased you activity?  You know that everytime you lose weight you have to adjust ie lower your calories because you don't weigh as much.

Why are you feeling fat AGAIN?  When did you stop feeling fat?  I know this takes a long time for many so I'm curious to when it stopped for you.

Ms - You nailed it as usual!  No, I'm not adjusting my food intake downward.  I'm enjoying eating "like a normal person" and DUH like a "normal person" staying at the same weight!  LOL.  I don't work out, I walk the dog (well, she's a high maintenance Golden so it's kind of a Frisbee, trot, fetch and catch walk) but it is not what I need.

If I want to get below a size 14 (I know, I know) I gotta do more.  I don't think eating's the problem, I think *moving* is the prob ... as in moving my bootie down to the gym.

I ordered some groovy athletic stuff from Athleta (when we look good and clothes fit, I think we perform better, so I splurged just a little).  I'm getting my sorry behind to the Y where I belong.

Now it's YOUR turn, fill me in!

Let's see my LIFE is absolutely wonderful...just as it was BEFORE surgery.  I live it I LOVE it I AM it!!!

Weight I got down to my goal of 195 but then decided hmmm let's see what 180 looks like...right after that thought I gained 25lbs and I sit here at 215ish not doing to much about it.  Until recently.  I've NOW gotten my head BACK into the game and realized for ME...MY food choices ALONG with my inactivity plays a part in my weight.  Go figure the old addage "diet and exercise" can be true!!

Anyway I'm here.  I still post on the main forum.  Folks are here, there and everywhere!!

I remember you.

I think you came to the right place and took the first step towards loosing that last elusive 20 lbs. This has come up several times and you should look back at some of the previous posts / suggestions in this group.

Good luck

Welcome back Lucy!  This is the first step to getting on track and losing that last 20 lb.  Good luck to you!

I'm at 141 and still feel fat.  I think it's in our heads.  I wonder what I would think if I saw myself at 306 again.  EGADS!! That's a horrible thought!

Just focus on what you got DOWN to, not the real old days of going UP to where you are now!

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

Now there's some perspective!  Worst nightmare would be waking to me at my heaviest and you know, there aren't even very many PHOTOS of those years.  In this digi ,Facebook era it's AMAZING how good I was at hiding.  No More!

Hi Lucy, i think coming back to oh is a good thing because it keeps your head in the game and can get you back to refoccussing on where you want to get to.

Like you  i could do with adding more moving into my program  ahhhhhhh one day it will click maybe, im just never going to be a fitness junkie and i know it lol...

I dont think that "this is it" unless you want it to be, its so easy to get complacent and happy with the where we are loo****il reality hits that we are settling and this is not where we want to be..  I did it for awhile on my way to goal when i got to a size 10, but decided no i was not going to settle and went for goal..  now im in a loose size 4..

anyways welcome back and hopefully youll stick around for awhile..

Thanks for the welcome, Mini!  I can do better than this.  I was an athlete when I was young so while I don't think  I'll be a gym rat 6 days per week, I'll be happy there!  And when it's time to ski and sail, I'll be really really glad I aimed for the home stretch!

Are the maintenance boards where people mostly deal w/ these issues?

Hearts to you - Lucy
