Cruising this Saturday ALONE!!

I am leaving in 4 days on my 1st solo cruise for 5 days to the Bahamas!!  Never in my life would I have guessed that I would be brave enough to venture out alone but I am going.  

My husband has no more time off from work & my 2 kids are in middle school, so I decided to go alone!!  I have worked hard all year and need a little vacay so Nassau here I come!  

It will be such a different trip for me since it will be all about ME.  I can do what I want, when I want and not have to consider anyone else!  A time to be selfish for once after a lifetime of catering to everyone else's needs. 

This past year has been a year of transformation for me, both externally & internally.  I am so much more independent & self confident.  I just think it's going to be such an adventure and I want to tackle many new things that I would never have dreamed of doing pre WLS. 

I am looking forward to having time for some rest, relaxation, reflection and to return home rejuvenated!  OMG I am soooooo excited and can't wait to have my very own private cabin!

I have cruised solo several times and had a great time. As you said, its all about you and your schedule. You have done an awesome job - congratulations on a job well done. You deserve a treat!!

 That sounds like fun! Sit around and people watch, nap when you want, read, relax, and NO ONE ELSE to cater to! Heaven on Earth!

Thanks for all the encouragement.  I knew my OH family could relate to my feelings and new found sense of independence!

If I listened to all the negative Nelly's around me I would be cowering in a corner afraid to move.  Seems like most of the women I know are fearful (as I once was) of venturing out alone to do much of anything. 

I keep thinking of all the business women that are required to travel for work.  And all the widows / divorced / single women who still want to experience life but may not have a partner at the moment.  And what about Julie Roberts in Eat, Pray, Love?  What an adventure she had when she embarked on her own journey.  I am not looking for a romantic fling, since I am happily married.  But I feel like this is part of my evolution in the pursuit of finding myself.
