Trip to San Francisco
Well my OH family, I am headed to San Francisco this Wednesday to spend the remainder of the week with a very good friend of mine. I'm staying in Sonoma and will be alone all day Thursday and Friday while she works. So I'm looking for any good recommendations of things to do while I'm there. I know there are several Bay area people here, so give me some ideas! Frisco can definitely be a great help! I'm so excited!
WOW!! There are so many things you can do it's hard to even begin, but here goes: Drive across Golden Gate and walk along the other side and take pictures.
2. Go to pier 39
3. Golden gate park and visit museums
4. Ghiradelli square, cable cars, Coit tower, Lombard street
5. In San Jose, visit the Winchester Mystery House
6. Drive along Hwy 1
7. Santa Cruz
8. Doesn't Sonama have some good wineries?
9. Shopping, malls galore.
Anyway, just my 2 cents. it's been a while since I've lived in the Bay Area so I'm sure you will get a variety of posts from some of the regulars that live there.
Have a blast!

Don't really know how mobile you are..... and I'm really not a "Wine Country" expert......
Some of the scenery around there is quite special all by itself.....the food and wine scene is some of the best in the world. The town of Sonoma is worth a couple hours.....
Lunch and or Spa Treatment at the Sonoma Mission Inn may interest you....Well...lunch anywhere should be good in that area.....I don't think you can survive having bad food with so many choices.
Same with Spa treatments....
A walk along the water front in the town of Sausalito is kinda cool.....cause you get a great view of San Francisco.
The Golden Gate Bridge is a must see.....you probably going to be going over it to get to Sonoma.
In San Fran most the popular areas can be touristy..... but still enjoyable.
Randomly.....
- Pier 39
- Fishermans Wharf
- Chinatown
- Haight Street (Haight Ashbury)
- Ferry Building on Thursday/Saturday....great shops and Farmers Market(till 2PM)
- MOMA... Museum of Modern Art
- Beach Blanket Babylon is very unique to SF....but it's night and you gotta get tickets.
- North Beach Area- Italian
- Union Square
- Union Street (different area than Union Square)
- Cable Cars are pretty cool
If I think of more I'll add....
Have a great time !

Thanks, I was in San Francisco once, 23 years ago! I did the usual- Fisherman's wharf, cable car ride, china town, Lombard st. I will probably do that again. I found out that my friend is actually staying in Rohnert Park, so I will probably take day tours through the hotel's concierge, and leave San Francisco for night time and Saturday, when my friend is done with work. I will let you know how it goes!
In Sonoma go to The Girl and the Fig on the square. I visit Sonoma once or twice a year. It is hands down one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. Its good fresh food and shockingly the burger is amazing as the the cheese and meat plates. Go there! Ahh so jealous you're there. Also in Sonoma check out Jack London park. Horseback riding or some great trails. Enjoy!
