I concur there is nothing to freak out about!

And yea, I think that there is "safety" for people in the good/bad labels, and they can call themselves good and bad and be justified in X thing, because they've been good/bad.

Or even hell, eat pie for dinner. Its Thanksgiving.  Have Pie!  Give Thanks!  :}

Now I will eat all the innards of the pecan pie, plus crust and whippy cream.  And I might have to hide the rest of the pie for later.  Mmmm!  Karo syrup and butter!  :}

Of course, all of the above is moot if pie is your Achilles heel.  If pie is your poison, then freakout is not helpful, but away staying is a good thing.

Having a strategy is great.  I'm going where I always go on Thanksgiving and it's a great organic meal.  People there are very support of whatever food plan I've been on over the years.  I generally bring the salad because of all the years I was a raw vegan.  I'll eat turkey and 1 Tablespoon of stuffing and mashed taters.  I'm trying to avoid sugar as last year while in the losing phase I didn't lose an ounce between Thanksgiving and New Years.  I just spent 4 days in Napa and came back 3 pounds heavier.  Lesson learned and I was very very lucky that those 3 are off after only a few days home.

I'm leaving for Mexico on December 8th and will be there until December 21st having plastics with Dr. Sauceda.  I planned the time to have me out of my office until after January 1st so that I totally avoid the holiday office rush of everything that I really don't want to put into my mouth.  I will be relying on people to feed me protein and more protein to help me heal.  I thought it was the perfect month to take me out of the self-feed dilemna during the holidays.  I'm really not always that trust worthy with my choices.  Last night I had to circle way around the display of cheesecake samples at costco because I would have wanted to sample every single flavor if I had gotten in arms reach.

I resemble McMadame's comment of going to hell with myself "Halloween through mid January".  This is what happened to me last year for the very first time.  I gained around 6 pounds, and it wasn't so much the gained weight, but the getting back in the right frame of mind that was difficult.  It literally took me months to get back to where I wanted to be.

I too, Mini Me, vowed not to do it again(although I did over summer vacation, but not to the same degree).

I drink a glass of wine regularly on weekends, have a bite of dessert at gatherings, etc.  This is maintenance, after all ;)  But my poison is chocolate.  So my plan is not to start on the chocolate, not to bring it in the house, and if I want to enjoy a piece, I will but at someone else's home.  I will enjoy my holiday meals with family, but no leftovers and definitely no chocolate will come home with me!

I think I will splurge on some expensive seafood!  It's a win win for me.

I have been on a sugar binge since Halloweeen.  It has finally shown up in my pants!  I am going to wait until Friday and then I am cutting out all sugar and getting back to basics!

I also started Bikram Yoga in August which was super beneficial to my weight and body shape until I added all the sugar!  It burns about 1000 calories in the 90 minute session.

So, we had Thanksgiving dinner last night... and it was wonderful! I made cornbread stuffing with chestnuts and a Quorn "Turk'y" roast for my two vegetarian kiddos. Mom made a turkey and conventional stuffing. We had green bean casserole and THREE different kinds of gravy. I made pan dripping gravy and vegetarian gravy and mom made some crap out of a package! UGH. I baked two regular pumpkin pies and and one regular pecan pie and one sugar-free (but with agave) pecan pie. My agave pecan pie ended up being 320 calories per 1/8 of pie slice. Not bad!!

I ate a good portion of turkey with a spoonful of stuffing and a spoonful of green beans. Then we played a few games of cards and LCR and after a couple hours, I had a slice of pecan pie with whipped cream. I logged everything for the day and was a LITTLE over on carbs (62), but all in all, I did fine! Calorically I was right where I should be and protein was perfect. I'm thinking this holiday stuff is gonna be a breeze as long as I remember to eat protein first and keep creating low-sugar treats if I think I'll be tempted.

Best of luck to ALL as we go through the holidays!

Sticking with my normal plan. Thankfully turkey is good protein. I made a low carb pumpkin cheesecake that was really good. At least it was to me! I have to stay away from sugar. I'm not sure I would get off it later!

Dittoing MacMadame, it's two/three days.. I will eat my turkey, and save room for a bite or two of the traditional sides. I will graze here and there if something particularly good treat-wise is out. The next day I'll be right back on it. Christmas, the same. I may even make my home-made eggnog and have a little serving of that, maybe.. it's such an investment in booze that I won't generally drink..

Two days a month apart aren't going to cause any real damage.. No carby sugary treats will come home with me. but I will never turn away a baggie of turkey or ham if proffered! We go to other people's houses for the holidays (mostly my folks, who are not the best cooks!) so no tempting stuff is around me 24/7. NYE, same deal- I will def be nibbling with friends, and will have some alcohol in moderation..
