Help dealing with an ex... NOT off topic...
One thing I thought of right away is my surgeon required 5 years of PROOF of me being obese and also my failed attempts to lose weight and keep it off. Gaining 30 lbs over the holidays does not constitue as 5 years of being obese. If a surgeon did the VSG on her knowing this, I would question his ethics too. She also has to go through a psych evaluation to determine her mental stability...and from what you say, it sounds like she might raise a few red flags there.
She called me TODAY to tell me that she was diagnosed with sleep apnea as of last wednesday and that she started taking cholesterol meds last week, too. She tells me that they "rechecked" her bmi and she's at a 30 and that's all that's required for medicaid. Over 30 bmi and at least one co-morbidity. Wow. She told me that she's filling out the survey and health history today for the surgeon's office and wanted to know if I "told the truth" about past drug use. OMG. YES, I told the truth!! Why?? Because she's afraid they might disqualify her if she admits that TWO MONTHS ago she stole her own child's ADHD meds!! Whew... OK... enough venting, eh?
If she is certified as OK to have this surgery, I'm going to file a complaint against the doc that performs it.
