Scale Strategy.........

**Disclaimer: This is not a recommendation....this is an experiment.....testing.... a work in progress....a case study.....taking one for the team.....your mileage may vary......objects may appear larger in mirror.....

During weight loss and most of my first year of maintenance I was a daily weigher......I believe in it and I think it's the way to go.......

I've posted before about taking a month off of weighing and did fine.......

Now I am staying off the scale for 2 weeks at a time.....

Here is my strategy.......

It really makes me much more conscious of my actions...... much more mindful of where I stand during the day.....by the minute...by the hour...by the AM....by the PM......

If I know I'm going out that evening..... I go light during the day just in case there will be foods I want to try.... maybe even bread, rice or pasta......and oh.... a few bites of a die for dessert.

If I have a heavy lunch..... I go light after that.... If I have a bad day..... I have a light day the next....

If I know I have an event coming up.....like my god daughters wedding..... I knew there would be several days of get togethers, restaurants....some drinks....some foods...... I go into it on the light side. Same with travel and/or vacations.

It has been kinda like taking the training wheels off.......

Some of you are thinking.... here we go....this is where frisco loses it !!!!

I don't think so..... being more mindful has to be a good thing any way you look at it......

I do have my 5lbs. range and tend to maintain the low side by design and with mindful effort.

Maintenance is about living within your parameters and tolerance and being able to tell if your within your weight range without a scale...... I assure you if I were to get on the scale 20lbs. heavier.....I knew it 17lbs. before..... that I was gaining weight.....

Being able to maintain and reel it in when you have to is just life after WLS......with or without a scale.

Again...this is not a recommendation and I do feel more comfortable weighing everyday...... Maybe I'm trying to challenge myself....make it harder on myself or harder than it has to be......but for now it really keeps me in check.......

Happy Maintaining.....

This makes alot of sense to me. As I am getting closer to my goal, I am thinking about how I am going to handle maintenance. What you are proposing is to pay attention to your body and to your eating habits. To be mindful. Keep us posted on this "Scale Strategy".

Sounds like a good plan. Years ago I had a naturally slim friend (so I thought) but eventually discovered she managed her food intake much like you have described; chosing lunch being mindful of what their family had planned for dinner. Of course it takes organization of food intake but thats one thing we learned in the weight loss phase.

And this naturally slim friend has now put on a few pounds and I am skinnier than she is, though you would not call her fat. Just thicker.

Keep us posted on how this works out.

I think it sounds like a good plan.  I'm still addicted to the scale myself, as I don't trust myself yet.  I hope I can get to that point.

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.
