Road Trip

I've been somewhat AOL.  We left last Thursday for a 2 week road trip. Not sure what this is going to do about maintenance, but no worries.  Even if I gain some, I'm determined to get right back on track when we get home.  I do alright during meals, but the inbetween snacks haven't always been the best choices.  But I have gotten a lot of exercise in the form of walking, trail hikes, and just wandering around looking at the sights.

We started at home - southwest Iowa, to Omaha, NE, across Nebraska, across Colorado, into Utah.  Down the east "coast" of Utah into AZ to see the north rim Grand Canyon, back to Utah, but the west "coast".  Then to Vegas, into California Death Valley and Mojave Nt'l Preserve. Arizona again south rim Grand Canyon, Sunset Volcano Crater, Meteor Crater. Tomorrow we will see the Petrified Forest, then head toward Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Will visit a cousin, then see the White Sands in New Mexico and the UFO museum at Roswell.  Then head east/northeast.  Not sure which route we will take home.  Two options - across Texas through Dallas into Shreveport, Louisiana, up through Arkansas, Missouri and at last home.  Or we may go across the Texas panhandle, into Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and home.  Whew!!!  No specific plans for stops along the way home.  We may just drive.  We're both ready to get home, but enjoying seeing this beautiful country!  We have to go to Des Moines on Sat. 11/12 for our granddaughter's 3rd birthday party, so won't even have the weekend to recuperate before going back to work on Monday the 14th...and we will be having a pot luck at work that day.  Egads!  I'm doomed to gain!

Are any of you tired just reading about this?  Surprisingly, we are both holding up well.

And ENJOYING it!!  I've walked trails that I never would have done before.  Climbed flights of stairs to look out points, walked the Vegas strip deliberatly having a taxi drop us at the north end, and walked to the south end where we were staying.  Walk, walk, walk.   Before losing 164 pounds, I was a spectator.  Now I'm a participant and loving it!

Any wagers out there on whether I'll gain, lose or stay the same?

Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

Sounds like a great trip Wanda. And I bet you don't gain any weight. You are doing so much stuff you just won't!  Enjoy the trip.   And next time come out here and see the redwoods.   Diane

Thanks Diane.  I told my husband I want to go that direction sometime in the future.  We want to visit all 50 states, so this is a good start...although we have been to others before now, just not too many.
