NSV - health stats
We have to do health screenings as part of our health care enrollment at work. You have to do it to get anything other than the really high deductible plan and you get health care incentive money if you meet screening targets. So I had mine first thing this morning.
The Physician's Asst. that did my screening was surprised at some of my numbers because my HDL (good cholesterol) was so high that the machine wouldn't even spit out a number for my LDL (bad cholesterol). She had to calculate it out to enter it for the screening process. My HDL was 79 (healthy for women greater than 50), and my LDL was 61 (healthy is less than 100). My triglycerides where so low they couldn’t even get a number. The machine just spit out a less than 45 (healthy is less than 150).Other than that, my BMI (22), my fasting blood sugar (73) and my blood pressure were all normal.
After we get our stats, we have to enter all our numbers and do a 15 min survey (Health Quotient) on our habits (eating, exercise, etc.). After doing that, it calculates out a number (from 1-100) and compares your health and habits to that of national averages and your same-age peer group. My results….got a 97 out of 100. Woohoo! Just as a point of comparison, my number last year was 73 (and the year before that 52) and the score for my peer group (averages of same-age people) was 55.
So excited about my results!
