A QUESTION TO ALL YOU SKINNY PEEPS
If you smoke or have a relative (particularly a female relative) who has had an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA), I would go get an ultrasound. Otherwise, it's pretty normal and nothing to worry about.
The aorta goes right down through the abdomen before it branches off into the two femoral arteries that go down each leg. The less belly fat you have, the closer the aorta will be to the skin. I'm pretty thin around the middle (pear shaped), and I feel mine quite a bit while exercising and lying down.
My dad who was obese and smoked died of a ruptured AAA at age 67; so, it is of a bit of concern to me and one of the main reasons I had VSG, btw.
This happens to me all the time and I actually have a funny but not so funny story about it!! I was not feeling good one day and I looked at my stomach and noticed that every time my heart beat my stomach was moving with it. So I showed my husband who is an EMT and I went straight to the hospital to rule out an aortic aneurysm. Of course I was 29 at the time so a little young for something like that....It was not thank goodness, but I did have an extremely high white blood cell count, and had to be hospitalized for 3 days. And to this day you can see my heart beat from my stomach when i lay on my back. I never saw it when I was heavy though.
