Halloween Horrors

We get 300+ kids at our door so we have to have a boat load of candy. Last year I was out of town and the year before was two weeks before my surgery so I had my last close encounter with peanut butter cups.

So this year I decided that I just couldn't have any chocolate or candy I like in the house. So I proceeded to buy a lot of icky Halloween candy. What I got was "Dots" that are blue and look like ghosts, strawberry twizzlers (ok these aren't too bad) glow in the dark pumpkin lolly pops, tootsie pops (again tolerable) and some kind of gummy bear things. Also some taffee and a package of little plastic rings with bats and spiders on them.

And I will have a few friends here and we will eat healthy snacks and drink wine and wear witch hats. How is everybody handling the Halloween candy issue?      Diane

The candy is in the trunk of my car and will come out when it's time. Tomorrow the leftovers will come to work with me so I can get rid of it!

LOL, we left town! We're in Hawaii!! Relaxing...it's lovely. Left some candy with the housesitter, but no temptations here  (except for Mai Tai's and pina coladas and coconut ice cream...oh well, there's no escaping temptation!)

I bought the candy today. Woudl you believe Christmas Candy was already out on half the shelves that held Halloween candy just last week?! I was shocked!

I bought:

-Skittles - can't stand them
-Starbursts - they are okay but not really my thing
-3 kinds of reese things - dh likes the PB cups and asked for them; I do like the Reese Pieces but not that much and dont' like the cups or the "Fast Break"
-3 pack including Snickers which is my favorite. The Twix are okay and I'll eat 3 Muskateers, if I'm desparate but otherwise not.

I had one Snickers and that's going to be it for me, I think. I did decide it would be okay to have 3 pieces of candy tonight but the one Snickers was so good that I don't think I'll need another.

It will be harder tomorrow when Mini-Mac comes back from her sleepover.  She's bound to have Tootsie Rolls and I have trouble resisting them.

DH bought one bag of candy late this afternoon. We get very few, if any trick or treaters. I told him to get something we don't really care for ... and he did!

When I got home I worked in the yard till almost dark, came in, changed clothes and started dinner. Still no kids. When we finally sat down for dinner the first knock at the door. Nine kids so far! That's a lot for us.

Dinner was good too .... turkey meatloaf, baby bok choy sauteed with sweet red and yellow peppers and garlic, and of course a mashed potatoes for DH.

Well, I sinned. Repeatedy. All day and into the evening.. Enjoyed it. Don't feel too bad about it either.

Tomorrow it's back to the usual routine.

... Until our annual Christmas party. When I plan to sin again.

Happy Halloween everybody!!!

It was my plan to keep my house dark and not answer the door, so I wouldn't have to buy candy.  But at the last minute, today at lunch actually, I ran to CVS and bought six bags of all my faves, like an idiot.  I waited until after dinner to sample them, and ate one of each fun-size type:  peanut M&Ms, snickers, butterfinger, and something called peanut butter snickers, which amazingly I didn't care for.  Thanks to the sleeve, and because I waited until after dinner to get into it, I didn't have room for much, and enjoyed each one.

I think I got a total of about 8 kids at my door tonite.  So sad, used to be we'd get dozens.  So tomorrow the leftovers go to work and stay there.
