Morning all. I'm assuming this is Tuesday. Today I weighed 126.8 lbs. it just keeps going up. I'm going back to basics today. I've been trying to up my calories and increase my fiber and stop Miralax. This is the result. So I'm returning to very low carb, high protein and 800-1000 cal/day. I wonder if I'll ever be able to switch to a more traditional diet?
Hi Marie,
I am sorry you are struggling with this. I went through the same type of thing when I got to goal, I maintained happily for awhile, mostly because I really wanted to continue to lose. But when I eased up and made some not so good choice, my weight slowly crept up.
I learned that in order to maintain and, even more so, to lose, at this stage of the game, I have to be very dilligent. I finally gave in and just gave up (for the most part) my treats and splurges. They are rare now. As hard as it was to do this, it was also a relief, once I let go, did what I knew I should have been doing all along, I stopped gaining and was able to maintain, and then with a bit more tweaking I was able to lose 8 of the 13 lbs I had gained.
I am making small adjustments all the time to either lose, maintain or gain. I am really getting to know my body.
My bounce back was entirely my fault, and so is my loss, I am in control, and that is kinda cool, but also a huge responsibility.
Good luck honey,
Cindy

HI Marie
Well, welcome to the reality of maintenance. I have no doubt your "gain" is due to the change in miralax and such and not real fat. We all go through this. Its a myth that we get to goal and just stay there. Our bodies are dynamic and changing and up and down everyday is normal. I had a phase where it seemed like I gained a half pound every day for a week. And absolutely had not changed eating. Its jus****er, waste or whatever. It would drive me nuts as I had done nothing to cause it I thought. So try not to be too upset.
So go ahead and go back to the weight loss phase diet for a week or two and see what that does. Not sure any of us will ever be able to eat a "traditional" diet again since the traditional American diet is so terrible. I know I can never eat much in the way of carbs and sugar again and thats just something I have to accept but its a small price to pay for health.
I have no doubt you can get those couple of pounds off. Then you can find your comfort zone of what to eat and understand the range of weight that is normal for you. You are a total success story so don't let this get you down. Diane

Thanks for the encouragement. I know I'll get a handle on it. I guess by normal I mean eating some fruit once in a while. I added Ole Extreme low carb/high fiber tortilla wraps (2 a day) into my diet. Like I said, want to stop Miralax. Anyway, I taking them back out of my diet. I've seen everyone go through similar trying times, so I know it's all part of the process. Thanks again!
