Congratulations on a successful one year!!! Success is measured so much more than a number on a scale (I tell myself this one) and your attitude is a winning one. It is so wonderful to be rid of sleep apnea and all the assorted ills that accompany morbid obesity. You have added years to your life.

Congratulations!!!! WLS is such a wonderful gift and a second opportunity for a healthier life and lifestyle.

Hi Trish,

I think you are a complete success story as well. I'm in the same boat as you. Not at normal BMI (15 pounds away). My Dr. said I'm a success story but I didn't believe it.

I think your Highlights emphasize how successful you are. It was great that you were able to capture them all especially the NSV's.

Great Job and Congrats !!!

Happy first surgiversary. As another sturdily constructed woman, I can say - to hell with the weight charts. Go for a weight that's healthy for you and work to maintain it!

If you and your docs both think you look great, then kiddo you look great - you know you're probably your own worst critic.

Congrats!

Congratulations on your success story Trish!  I love how good you're feeling about yourself.  I think that's the magic key to success is loving how we look/feel which makes us want to maintain it.

I too am a very slow loser.  We're the same height.  It took me 18 months to get to my goal.  Between months 12-18 I went lower carb again and the last 10 pounds came off.  Sometimes small changes make a big difference. The food combined with daily exercise really helped me.

I wish I could say that I don't need plastics, but sadly at 61, I need them!  I  heard a plastic surgeon in the San Francisco area speak a few months ago and he said that Breast Reduction is the most common surgery covered by insurance.  Come on over to the Plastic Surgery forum if you ever decide to consider reduction.

Again, big kudos on your success!

It's funny that you should mention going low carb.  I've been toying with the idea of going full out Atkins diet.  Thanks for telling me that it worked for you and that you are a slow loser too.  If it doesn't work, I'll still be happy.

I did not know breast reduction surgery was so common!

Trish, I just went back and looked at my daily weight chart.  On January 1st I weighed 167.  Mid-January I decided to really hit the low carb and I've been doing it for most of the year with some periods of more fruit carbs etc.  I came down 20 pounds from doing that, so it is possible.  I'm Atkins most of the time and now I'm back to getting really serious about it to try to lose some weight pre-plastics.  I figure we're big winners, regardless of whether we shed more weight at this point or not!

That's wonderful Lee!  I'll bet you do not miss that 20 pounds!!!

DId you do Atkins?  How many carbs a day did you shoot for a day?

I think you are wise to lose as much as possible before plastics.  You are doing awesome!

Trish, I did Atkins for the most part.  I was eating predominantely meat and veggies.  Not very much eggs and not very much cheese.  In the summer I was eating some fruit and that really slowed things down.  I tried to keep carbs between 30-40 and many of those came from protein supplements and greek yogurt.  I figured that healthy lower carb eating along with lots of exercise would give me some decent results.  I'm ready to do another stricter push of 20-30 carbs a day.

I do NOT miss those 20.  I really can't believe what a difference it makes.

Thanks Lee, this is really encouraging and motivating.  I think I'll do the same thing.  I don't want to do much dairy either, unless it's FAGE, and I cannot stand eggs.   I think dairy is a weight loss staller for me.  The cool thing is that I already know how to do Atkins.  I still have all my old favorite recipes as well.  So your gearing up for a stricter push to get a few more pounds off?  I 'm sure you will be successful.

Time to gear up.  When are you starting?

I think 20 pounds would make a HUGE difference!  It's so cool that you did it!!!
