Shouldn't it be dense protein that we measure our sleeve, for a true size? I don't see where stuffing in cottage cheesein our sleeve ( a slider/soft food, for me, would work?) Just a thought!

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

Me too!  Why not a chicken breast or steak?

I think it has to do with being able to eat enough of it in a short amount of time before your pyloris valve opens.  Also, I think because it is a softer protein.  I know I can eat more cottage cheese then I can dense protein so it would mimic a more balanced meal.  Anyway, these are just my thoughts on it and in no way should be taken as fact.

It's because how much dense protein we can fit in varies by how dry it is and how well we chew. Cottage cheese is a good compromise because it's not going to just slip through the sleeve but it is also easy to get down without chewing.

How about WHAT is the purpose of eating to measure you're sleeve?  What does it really measure other then the amount of X food that you can fit in?

For me, it's a reality check. If I've been eating a lot more but my sleeve is the same size then clearly it's what and how I am eating not my restriction that is an issue.

I guess it's the mental thing.  I know when I'm eating "crap" and I can eat alot I just look at WHAT I'm eating.  Then I fix a meal that's what I "should" eat and ta dah I can only eat my set Xoz...

I see your point.  I did the cottage cheese test awhile back and found that I could fit 8 ounces of it  into my sleeve, yet, I can only eat 3.5-4 ounces of meat, and nothing more....no sides or anything with it.
