Hi Gail...
So is the testing in Benicia or at The sports basement on ygnacio in Walcut Creek?

You are right about issues with my TSH.  I was VERY hypothyroid before surgery...  needed 250 mcg of synthroid daily.  Then after surgery a good portion of this year I was a little hyper-t  --- Kept slowly tapering down.  This last taper was about 5 weeks ago and I think I might be hypo now.  I just did 1 yr labs and they didn't do a TSH...  My endo didn't want it redone until mid November!   I just have a almost halted metabolism, a little facial edema and very low energy and freezing.  Hard to tell what is the anemia though?  My temp and b/p are very low, but my heart beat is more around 70 with some palpitations which is what happens when I am still hyper?    I a m doing a decent amount of wt lifting still and some cardio but I can still get dizzy/light headed frequently so I need to be careful!   I fainted last month in ZUMBA so I am both cautious and embarassed in that class which is where most my cardio was coming from (I LOVE IT!!!)   :-(   I am going walking and lifting wts with one of my good friends and with Megan tonight at the y.  We are doing the couch to 5 k.   Did you hear Megan had the RNY in the end of Aug?  She's doing GREAT!   Thanks for your ideas!   Amy

Sports Basement had an event one weekend, and one of the vendors present, was the mobile hydrostatic testing vehicle. The company has different testing sites throughout the Bay Area and elsewhere around the country. I brought the information to the gym that I go to, and they called and liked what they heard, so they arranged for the mobile testing unit to come to the gym in November.

bodyfattest.com is the website and you can look at the calendar for testing dates.

When I had low iron, I was always freezing, tired,  and my temp was low. If you were hyperthyroid, wouldn't your pulse be faster? Coldness is also present with hypothyroid, not hyperthyroid. Your sxs sound like anemia i.e. coldness, heart palpitations (although can be present with hyperthyroid), low energy,

Do you eat a snack before Zumba? You may have become dizzy due to low blood sugar. I have learned to have a snack, before working out. Your best bet is some carbohydrate with protein. Skim milk, yougurt are good, since they have both protein and carbohydrate. The carbohydrates help to fuel your workout. I have found that during maintenance, my carbs have increased and I burn them off during exercise. It is also important to refuel, after you workout, with protein and carbs. A protein shake with a little yogurt or fruit works well. Or just make sure that you eat a meal afterwards. I really have to eat some carbs, when I have a spinning class, and I am starving afterwards. Exercise uses up your glycogen stores and they need to be replenished with some carbohydrate.

Good for you for doing the Couch to 5 K. That is something that I have thought about, but haven't pursued-yet.

I did hear about Megan!! So glad to hear that she is doing well. She was very brave to have surgery, after going through all of your trials and tribulations. She is a great support for you and it is great that you two have each other to lean on.

Be sure to mix up your exercise routines. This helps your body from getting used to certain types of exercise and weights.

Just because your coming up on 1 year doesn't mean you're done losing. I've lost about 10 pounds in months 12-17 by just continuing to do what I was doing. I never had any stalls though.

I had my body composition testing done in a bod pod, which is equivalent to the hydrostatic weighing, but without the water. I just googled it and found 2 of our local universities offered the testing.
