I'm a motel room in Lake City, Florida, with a girlfriend. We have 6 dogs with us for the show this weekend.  I love the fact I had the energy to work 70 hours this week, come home on a Friday afternoon, pack my SUV (after unloading 160lbs of salt my husband left in the back), drive 200 miles, unpack , exercise the dogs, etc.  Tomorrow I'll walk a million miles  while pulling a cart with 100lbs of dogs and equipment on it at the show, get up and down off my knees a dozen times,

Could I do it at 290lbs? Yes, but it was so much harder on me.  I would have to call out sick on Monday's half the time after a weekend like this.

Wish us luck!

Hey I hope you get some points or whatever you are after. Dog show weekends can be grueling but so fun. My weight is part of the reason I gave them up but this summer got my dog's championship finished (ok i used a handler) but I did the grooming. And years ago I got UD  and tracking titles on terriers. I wanna start tracking again and it will be a breeze!!   Win big!!   Diane

Thanks!  We did well today. I got Winners & Best of Winners with my class ***** We were 1 short of a major, which was a bummer.    My special was Best Op (not so good -- my handler was in a bit of a snit over it), but he picked up the points he needed to complete the 'Bronze' level grand championship.  We're going to start working on putting the new Coursing Ability Title on a couple of my dogs.  I've never tried tracking, but I presume that requires dogs with a good recall.  I'd have to work on that whole 'obedience' thing.

congrats on the points. those majors are hard to come by.  we get people together to enter in borders as there are just not enough around here.

tracking is all on a line so no obedience or recall required. in fact, dog needs to work independently so no need for any obedience. just a dog with a nose who likes food or toys.  Diane

I may have to try tracking.  I know a woman who trained her CH  Standard MT for SAR (land and water cadaver dog)  up in NJ.  This was an experienced SAR home who wanted a smaller, more portable dog to use after the Mexico City earthquake some years back.  It's a different type of tracking, but they do have an aptitude for it.

On a cheerier note, Group 4 in the rain yesterday with my special, although the same judge hated my class ***** lol.
