It is very true that the farther out I am, the more challenging it becomes. I can do fine with meals, but it's that darn junk food that goes down way to easily!!

I love that I can't eat huge meals but I wish that head hunger was not constantly challenging my willpower!

Sorry..... can't do it.....can't support "everyone"

Just not possible..... if you can do it..... I praise you.....

What I can do is support everyone that is "supportable"

There is a woman on VSG main right now that that is 6 days out and would trade it all back for a Cheeseburger..........Sorry, I'm not supporting that..... this surgery means to much to me to associate with someone that wants out after 6 days......

Not everybody is supportable........

I go by another principal............ "Give more than you take"

Your totally not stepping over any boundaries..... you have a very valid position......

I just can't do it.....

I'm not convinced that the "Love Fest" approach is always effective.

Just tonight...... I was typing up a response to a thread.......It had valuable information for the person to consider......but it was not "positive" or "supportive".............So I didn't post it.......I deleted it..........now what got accomplished?

Yep, agreed again 100%.

I don't believe support means the same thing to everyone either. And, my definition of support is vastly different than others.

I personally refuse to support by enabling bad behaviors, or coddling the ones who want to go against medical advice. Personally, that's more dangerous than hurting their little tissue thin feelings. They might get their feelings hurt, but at least they won't be in hospital with complications.

I have little to zero sympathy/empathy for those struggling because they "want" to eat. Suck it up, it's a safety issue. It's not a uncommon to struggle post-op, it's shared on the VSG main forum every day, 10 times a day that sipping and getting in fluids is beyond difficult, yet people want to throw back a cheeseburger combo a week post-op. Sorry, just not going to support those behaviors.

I can't in good faith do it, and if I would have ever posted anything of the sorts, I would expect a firm, swift kick in the proverbial cyber ass for being stupid.

But Frisco, she probably doesn't really mean it. Some people get overwhelmed immediately after surgery and have buyers remorse. All they need to hear is "it gets better" and they are good again. Since it does get better, I don't have any problem posting that.

It's like when the champion falls down near the end of the movie and has trouble getting up but someone says the right thing and they get up and have renewed determination and they finish the race (or match or game). It's actually more inspiring that it wasn't all easy for them the entire way but that it was  hard at points and they thought about giving up but didn't.

Thanks all, I actually was referring to us vets including myself. (supporting each other) !

I do agree with the opinion on the newbie's misguided behavior in NOT following post op directions.............

I rarely visit the VSG main board anymore.

I am reaching out to my veteran colleagues for support.

Love and Hugs !

Hi Phyll,

I was going to ask you to clarify this.  I rarely post on the main VSG Board so I was assuming you were talking about encouragement from each other here on the Maintenance Board.  I was going to ask you to be more specific about what you personally were needing from the Maintenance Board.

Thanks for the clarification,

Cindy

p.s.  Frisco, Brandi, USAF Wife and others, I don't coddle the idots, I ignore them.  You guys are much stronger and more helpful than I am on the main forum, and I commend each of you for it.  I personally really appreciate what you do.  I have benefited from your approach and knowledge.  You have helped so many people with your no nonsense approach.  I know it does way more good than harm.  There are a few things I might disagree with or not see quite so black and while, but all in all I agree with most of what you write, you guys are my heros.  You guys are having the biggest impact here and your support is invaluable.  Thank you!
