I dont know what the deal is!
It seems like every 1/2 hr im hungry, I eat a little till full and then, i turn around and im hungry again!
Whats the deal????
I have a desk job and it could be because im bored? I dont really know.
I scares me cause I dont want to gain my weight back, what do you think is going on?
Does anyone else do this?
Or do you know a food that I can graze on that wont hurt my diet???

Let's backtrack a second. Rule #1: no drinking for 1/2 hour after you eat. Now, if you are obeying rule #1 and eating every 1/2 hour, when are you drinking? And if you are drinking while eating every half hour, why are you not obeying rule #1?

In other words, if you're eating every half hour, either you are drinking right after eating (stop, it is washing the food right through you) or you are dehydrated and that may be making you feel hungry.

My simple suggestions:

1. If you're not focusing on protein foods, go back to it.
2. Don't drink for 1/2 hour after you eat.
3. After that half hour (it takes 45 minutes for me for my tummy be ready) try drinking instead of eating and see if that addresses the "hunger". Remember, thirst can mimic hunger.

Hope these suggestions help!

try eating a dense protein meal every three or four hours. not little nibbles. then if you think you want something after a half hour or so, have tea, coffee or ice water. i am betting you are eating something other than dense protein and never feel satisfied. My surgeon says its fine to eat five small meals a day provided they include protein. thats the key.  And I do less late day nibbling if i have had a decent breakfast of protein.  Diane

I agree with both responses.  Make sure you aren't drinking but also the dense protein is best.   I eat every couple of hours.  For my meals, definately dense protein.  Then my snacks are protein (almonds, cheese), or sometimes fruit or veggies which are fiber, which also helps satiate me.  I do find that I WANT to eat inbetween my every 2 hour food.  I have to fight the urge.  If I graze on anything, it's something like almonds - I make an ounce last awhile.

It's a struggle for sure.  Try not to let yourself get into that cycle.  Evaluate WHAT you are eating.  They may be trigger foods.

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

I agree with what everyone else has said. I have found that if I nibble on something and feel full, I will be hungry again in about a 1/2 hour to an hour, BUT if I hold off and actually eat a meal then I can eat a couple ounces of protein instead of a couple bites and feel full for much longer.

I do have times that I just want to eat, eat, eat and I try hard to resist the urge. This usually happens to me when I've let more bad carbs into my diet or about 2 weeks into my cycle when I'm ovulating. The key is to recognize what's going on and fight it.

Have you noticed any changes on the scale from your grazing? I exercise a lot and I'm scared to "trust" my hunger. I don't journal or track anything, just try to always eat the right things. Several times I've had days where I felt like I ate a lot, but the scale stayed the same or went down a little. I assume I must have needed those extra calories due to my workouts, but I'm not comfortable trusting my hunger yet.

It COULD be acid development.  I know in ME right around the 1 1/2 year mark I started getting hungry, and an acid attack would follow.  I thought the attacks were gallbladder but they weren't.  We have NO idea why I develop more acid since the 1 1/2 year mark I notice it about every other monthish.  I have acid pills and on this days I feel HUNGRY a lot.  I TRY to make the BEST choices and the next couple days I take my pills.

Other times it's the type of food (usually a carb even a "good" carb like whole grains) that trigger my hunger.  So I am forced to eat mainly fruit for my carb as it's the only carb that doesn't really trigger my hunger, but I can't have it everyday/

Lastly I'm bored.  This happens more at home when it's ALWAYS been a bad time for me.  I eat dinner and about 30 minutes to an hour later I WANT to eat some more.  So when I see that happening I find something to do.  Mainly facebood lately, lol

It's hard...but once you figure out WHAT is going on (really STOP and listen to your body) it helps.

Thanks you all,
Ya, I think alot of it is being bored, I have a desk job, and its boring and I do just sit and think about food, and also at home aswell.
I do get hungrier if I eat carbs, I really need to start getting in more water, I am bad at that, I like grapes and I try not to eat to many but I do like them.
I havent gained no weight back I go up and down from 135 to 136 I will really need to pin point this and see if I can change it I dont want to gain my weight back.
I dont have much acid, just sometimes all wake up in the middle of the night with that nasty strong stuff that comes up and burns and chokes me but that only happens like if I eat close to bed time, do u think I should still take a acid blocker?? I wonder if that would be the reason im hungry?
Well thanks again your great!!

I do recommend a PPI.  You can get Prilosec or Prevacid without a prescription at the pharmacy, start by taking it once a day, at the same time every day.  They work systemically (not directly on the stomach), and it takes about 4 days before you'll see the full effect.  (It does help the reflux, though, to avoid eating before bedtime, even if you're on a PPI.)

As another poster said, thirst can mask as hunger.  (Are you tired a lot?)  Work to get in all your liquids each day, and as others have said, wait after eating.  (I wait at least an hour, sometimes 90 minutes.) It doesn't have to be straigh****er, it can be Crystal Lite, or tea, or milk, SF juices, shakes, etc.  This too could take a few days of getting all your water in, before you realize the full effect of proper hydration.

Thank you for your post, yes, I have been very tired lately, and im glad you said something about that, I didnt even think it could be because of dehydration, I do need to  work on getting my liquids in.
Thanks again!
