I'm with you Frisco.  I occationally browse the VSG main forum, but rarely post unless I really feel that my advice will help.  Otherwise, I don't want to "beat anyone up".  I mean sometimes I just want to yell "Common Sense" to people.  I've never been one to judge, but if you're doing things like drinking soda 3 days out, I have to wonder if you were serious about the surgery in the first place.  It is very frustrating.

I remember trying to get  WATER down at that stage and had a tough time, can't imagine drinking pop..owe..I can feel the burn now!  I am almost 2 years post op and had pop, flat ginger ale, once during that time which was only because I had the stomach flu and I thought it would settle my belly...boy didn't that burn going down! NEVER AGAIN!!

I am not saying I am 100% compliant all of the time but I do try and follow the basic rules, no drinking 30 min before/after meals, cut out pop, limit carbs/white sugar...I do struggle with head hunger..but hey that is a whole different post!

Frisco, you can't help others unless you first take care of yourself. if that means taking a break or swearing off the main VSG forum or whatever, do it.

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.

Who was it that said, "Common sense, really isn't that common." This statement speaks volumes for the postings on some of the other forums. I don't spend much time on them.

I agree that is is very frustrating that a number of people do not take good care of their surgical stomach.  On the main VSG board, I try to answer some questions and ignore most of the rest as it is frustrating.  Since so many people are posting now, I think the volume of those frustrating posts has increased just because of the numbers of posts.

I do occasionally like to read on the main board to watch the cat fights....this has been a slow week for them so far.  Other than that, I'll stick to this board to get support.

Everyone loves your food pics and recipes, Frisco so please post them if you still feel like it.  They are a real pleasure to look at and read about.

I agree whole heartily and mostly do stay away from there because I find it frustrating, exasperating, and mainly sad because these people are the ones who will say, " the sleeve failed me", when in reality they never gave their sleeve a fighting chance.  Why risk your life with such a serious surgery if you refuse to be compliant off the get go??  I feel sorry for these people and for their stats, because they will skew the results for everyone, and you can't blame the surgery for drinking soda 3 days out!  These people need psychological help because the surgical one won't cure what's wrong with them.

This is why I love coming here, to keep my head straight.  Even when you are committed, it's a struggle not to fall back to you old habits.  I can't imagine what my battle would be like if I never even tried to establish new habits in the first place.

Yep, I rarely go there anymore either -

Just happy to be here and in my home forum where there is usually at least a little sanity!

I pretty much only read it when I'm bored and need some entertainment, sad to say.  Some of the posts are absolutely ridiculous and I never respond to such nonsense.  I usually respond to topics like skin issues/plastics which is a topic true to my heart as I'm going in for my second round in November.  A lot of the other stuff is just laughable and I will not waste my time on someone who doesn't have a stick of common sense.  I honestly don't blame you for being fed up as well.

By the way, happy 2 year.  I'll be coming up on 3 in January...quite the ride...

Happy 2 year!! That's really awesome.

Please don't completely leave!  There are only a few people whose advise l trust - and you're definitely at the top of that short list.  l'm being completely selfish here.  My surgery is next Wednesday (the 5th) and l need to know there's some backup.  You know what l mean?!   l totally understand where you're coming from, l really do.   BUT l also bet that you've helped countless people even though they've never told you.  Especially from this post about the diet soda.  TONS of people will read that, not comment, and take your advice (and all the rest of the good advice there) to heart.  l personally have bookmarked a gazillion posts, but not commented on many.

l want to give you my sincere thanks, also.  Because of reading your blog (and the other vets), l decided to change my life for GOOD.  l finally have the confidence to change and improve my life.  My children are already excited beyond belief that their mom is going to be healthy, and is already very happy and excited for her new life.

Sincerley,
Yvonne
