I was reading some past info from Brandi and she stops taking her vitamins and supplements for 3 days prior to getting her labs done, is that what everyone does?

Yes, my instructions were to stop all supplements for 3 days prior to the test. An no alcohol the day before because it can interfere with the vitamin B readings.

I was never told to stop taking them prior.  And since it takes awhile to actually register IN your blood I'm not sure how stopping a couple days before would help OR hurt.

I'm covered so it's NEVER a matter for ME on my labs.

My doctor takes EVERYTHING and like someone posted I'm a little low in this that or the other.

My personal opinion TODAY is to get an ENTIRE lab panel done...this is your LIFE we are talking about and while $350 stings NOW think about what a deficiency can cause...remember the big picture.

Once you have your BASE with your labs you can then start a good vitamin supplementation.  My BASIC one is a Multi Vitamin, 1000mcg of B-12 3x a day, 1500mg Calcium with D3.  This is the BASIC for many VSGers..the calicum is important, make sure it contains D-3 for absorption.

If your labs are LOW in anything then have THOSE rechecked say in 6 months post supplementation and then go from there, etc.

Hi Sweets,

Thanks so much.  Yes I realize I 'should' get everything checked...  thank you :)

I take my viatamins and supplements faithfully every single day.  I take the following:

1.  Women to Women Essential Nutrients:

2.  Women to Women Balanced Biotics, here the the details:

3.  Woman to Woman Herbal Equilibrium:  (to Balance Hormones):

4.  I also take Bariatric Advantage Chewable Calcium Citrate

So I am already on a very good vitamin and supplement regime.  But I have not had my labs done....

I will get them done ASAP and be more diligent with them.

I think that not taking supplements prior to the blood draw, may be a physician thing. I wasn't told not to take them, but many programs do recommend not taking them prior to the blood draw. I would discuss this, with the physician doing the labs.

Baseline labs are what you had done before. When you have your labs done again, your first set are considered "baseline." Where you started from. Future labs will be compared against the first set.

ummm the doctors here are not as experienced as in the US or Canada, god I hope I don't offend anyone....  But I can call and ask, I would prefer to know from one of you, I really want to get them done tommorow, but I want them to be as accurae as possible, so if it is 'better' to wait 3 days and get them done then, then I will....   Oh well it will all work out....

Aha I got it with the baseline.  I had my first labs at 6 months (they are on my profile) and they were good.  I have not had them done for 1.5 years so it is time.  It will be interesting to see these ones and compare.

Thanks again,

Cindy

"Better" is going to depend on who you ask girlie.  All you can do is decide for yourself whether you are or are not going to, and then do that going forward.

You will *not* get a rousing yea or nay from us, because all of our doctors have different protocol.  I, personally, see the benefit of stopping them, because by then (in theory) my readings are what is circulating in my system, not what I just put in there, so I can know if I am retaining something, if its too high, too low without supplementation - but some folks will tell you it takes longer than 3 days to get in or out of your system so.

Its just one of those things!

I am proud on you for doing this!
