Coming Soon: a Four Sleeve Family

Most of you know my brother was sleeved in June and has lost 95 lbs including pre op. And my husband is in pre op testing for surgery in October or November with Dr. Cirangle. Today my brother tells me his wife has been cleared and is going to get sleeved to. She had some other health issues that raised issues about suitability but apparantly they are worked out. So by the end of the year we may be a four sleeve family. I am so pleased as I think it will be easier for my brother if he and his wife are eating the same. In our home I am the cook and can manage different things for hubby although now he is in pre op diet mode so we are pretty together.

Who else out there has a two or more sleeve family?!?  I bet our total losses when all is done will be over 500 lbs.     Diane

Wow, that is so exciting! I see your brother's losses on myfitnesspal and he is doing so great! He'll be joining the century club very soon.

How is your SIL handling the news about your husband? I seem to recall they frequently bond over buffets...I hope they can find a new activity to visit around.

Best of luck to all,
Lindsey

Diane that is wonderful news, everyone working to get healthy.... excellent.

Hubby and I are trying again to help him lose weight the old fashion way, but if he gains it back this time he has said he may consider the VSG, he is higher than he has ever been, but not really that obese.  At 6' tall his high was 260 and he is now 255, so we are hoping if we both make permanent changes I will be able to maintain easier and he will be able to lose the weight and maintain it this time.

We have dieted and gained together our whole relationship, it is very unusual for me to be over 100 lbs less then him, we normally fluxtuate together.

Wish us luck,  congrats to you and your family, may you all live long healthy happy lives.

Hugs,

Cindy

Woo Hoo for Diane's family!  That is awesome.  I wish my DH would consider it.  His argument?  He would miss bread.  I asked him if he would rather die young to be able to eat bread.  He didn't answer me.  I did tell him that lots of VSGers can eat bread, just not me.  He's not willing to take the chance.  Crazy man.

I do have a co-worker who is going to have it done since I've been so successful with mine and another woman who I've been on the ambulance board of directors with who is going to now also.

So, I'm spreading the word.  Just with I could convince my DH...

Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

what kind of bread and how much does he feel he can't do without?  I eat bread.....

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.

Bread is that man's "go-to" food.  He eats bread with everything.  He just knows I can't tolerate it, so he thinks he wouldn't be able to either.  I think it's just an excuse.  We all know about excuses, don't we?!?!

He goes through more than a loaf a week at home and gawd knows how much he eats at the cafe where he eats lunch every day.  Plus, dinner rolls, bisquits, etc. You name it if yeast was used to bake it, and he eats it.

I can eat bite of bisquit and that sits so heavy on my stomach that I can't really eat anything else.  So I just don't eat those things or even try very often.  Once in a while, though, I just can't resist trying.  :o)

I used to be like that - bread + fat was my favorite binge food. toast & butter, rolls and butter, bread and cheese, yum.
