if you are like me, you used to eat a LOT of carbs & sugar, specifically - but now, it makes you sick.

do you think over time you could - sadly! - get used to it again? do you think our bodies could adjust the way an alcoholic adjusts to booze?

I know someone who could drink a ton - get absolutely smashed - and not have a hang over. I asked an AA member who I worked with how that worked and he said, if you drink a lot your body gets used to it.

do you think it is like this with sugar?

why do I ask?  oh, no reason....

and a photo for "sugar sugar"

Yes, I do think you can, and research shows that with things that we might be hard wired to enjoy to destruction, that it takes MORE to get the same joy over time.  10 Thin Commandments, Dr. Gullo, calls it the FQ factor, the more frequency, the more quantity, and some things just change the way we are, physiologically.  Like when LunaSea/BeezKneez said "you cannot unpickle a pickle, it will not ever be a cucumber again."

But again, it might be a taster thing, like the folks with the zillion tastebuds do not *need* as much of the flavors to be satisfied, where an undertaster person needs to consume WAY more to get to that point.

LIke folks who say "its just too sweet and rich."  That makes me laugh.  I can eat Eagle Brand Milk straight out of a can "too sweet and too rich" is a pretty amusing statement, because quite honestly, I do not think I have met anything of that nature!

1st year post op I was all about the "too sweet" thing - and STILL some things are too sweet but apparently I am reaclimating myself to sugar. dumb move, eh?  and so predictable because I have to say - not satisfied. since it wasn't what I wanted to begin with, never satisfied.

:}  I do not think it was dumb, I think you had it wrapped up in "predictible."  1 is too many and million zillion are not enough.

Stupid satisfaction anyway.

Well I know I hated sugar early out and I was a sugarholic before.   I felt so nauseous when I'd eat too much, especially in the first 24 months.  Now it takes more to get that sick feeling, so yes, my body has gotten used to it.  I still can not eat the quantities that I once could and I'm glad about that.  Also I notice that I don't crave the sweets any longer.  I've got tons of candy and chocolate in my house and just eat a few bites here and there.  It no longer calls my name and is easy to ignore.  Thank God...

P.S. I used to love watching The Archies when I was a kid!

I work out to The Archies, The Monkees  and The Partridge Family!

I didn't crave sweets but then I dabbled in them again and now it's just like when I was a pre-op, and like Brandi said "one is too many and ten billion are not enough"  (I may not have the numbers exactly right)

gah!
