Is it head hunger?
I had my revision from the band to the sleeve on 7/12/11. I think that I have done pretty well. Initially when I had the band my highest weight was 355, I came down to about 245 and after slippage I had surgery for the sleeve at 266. I am now about 230. For the last couple of days I am feeling hungry after my last meal. I still have at least one protein a day which gives me around 25 grams of protein (Isopure). I have my four ounces of food three times a day, mostly protein and I add light healthy carbs into it which I usually count as part of the four ounces. For veggies, I usually make sure I have a veggie burger daily and I recently started juicing (celery, carrots, parsley, grapes, cucumber) I try and have 4-6 ounces of that daily and I throw in some of the pulp that is left over to add some fiber into my diet. I usually snack two times a day, either almonds or fruit or sugar free Jello.
My question is what can I do because after my last meal since its usually before bedtime I usually get up and start grazing. I understand that this can set me up for a destructive behavior. I usually drink plenty of water during the day and low calorie drinks etc. I take a multivitamin and a vitamin b12. I also take a larger dose of vitamin D for a vitamin D deficiency. I also feel guilty about being able to drink over four ounces of water or liquids. My doctors office says four ounces is the limit in one hour, my doctor says I can have a little mor than that and be ok. I hope that does not stretch my sleeve? I usually drink slowly and if I feel full I stop.
Thanks,
Santos
when you get hungry after dinner does having a drink take it away?
im a little suprised they still have you limited on your drinking amounts at 2 months out... i dont remember having any restriction on my drinking after a few weeks.. But no drinking will not stretch your sleeve it runs right on through us.
also do you take a PPI?

Hello Linda,
Thanks for your reply. No, water does not really take it away. I saw my nutritionist this evening and she suggested that I stick to the rule of four ounces of water, she said that my sleeve might stretch if I drink too much water. I remember having this conversation with my surgeon before surgery and he told me that with the sleeve I can drink more water than with the band. I just want to do things the right way this time around. I will speak to my general doctor because I suspect tha****er does not stay sitting in in my sleeve for a long time. I do take prilosec 40mg daily. I was on that dose before surgery as well. I will just see how it goes in the next couple of days and if it does not go away I will make an appointment with the nutritionist. I saw her briefly tonight, she invited me to a support group for individuals looking to have weight loss surgery.
Regards,
Santos:)
are you tracking your carbs? despite how healthy they may be, some people find that even good carbs can slow down weight loss.
I would say EAT your veggie & fruits rather than juicing, but just my opinion.
once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.
PM me if you are interested in either of these.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I think limiting my liquids to four ounces sounds kind of odd. Yes, I am being careful with the carbs. I only eat the better carbs or derive the carb intake from fruits and veggies or wheat bread or the better kind of carb. I am avoiding white bread and pasta, white rice etc. I spoke to my nut tonight about the juicing and she also discouraged it. She stated that it could add calories.
Take care,
Santos:)
