Daily Maintenance Weigh In - Tuesday, 9/6
Diane,
Before, I was always so resistive to exercise, but since December, between the weight training and gradually increasing the aerobic exercise, I have grown to really like the way that I feel and look. Having some muscle mass really, really helps with the caloric burn and the ability to eat more calories. Plus, it does help to fill out some of the saggy and loose skin. I am a convert. My resting heart rate is down to the 50's and my most recent lipid panel had greatly improved. My HDL was 92!!!!
Good luck!! What about your martial arts? That certainly counts.
If you do nothing else, strength training will help the most. As we get older, we lose so much muscle mass, that our metabolism slows down, and we don't need as many calories as we once did. Strength training can help to reverse this, as well as stave off osteoporosis.
JMHO,
Gail
