Who drinks a Protein Drink for Breakfast and which is best?

Ok, pretty dumb for a nearly 2 year patient to ask about protein drinks. But I have concluded I need to get more protein earlier in the day and I have to limit eggs so I am gonna go with a small protein drink in the am along with gy. I sometimes put a half scoop in coffee with some milk so it doesnt curdle.  So who out there does a protein drink for breakfast and which ones taste best? I am not much of a breakfast eater - probably part of my weight problem.    Diane

I use 2 scoops of syntrax Matrix 2.0 sustained release protein blend with a 16.9 oz bottle of water in a blender bottle.  This stuff mixes up well too-no lumps or clumps!  It's 240 calories and 46 grams of protein.  You can make it with just one scoop but I like the thickness of the 2 scoop.  They also have several flavors so you have LOTS of choice.

If you are looking for something a little more convenient try the EASCarb ETD shakes.  Those have 17 grams of protein and 100 calories (maybe 120?).  My favorite is the dark chocolate.  Yum!

I alternate between two.  Syntrax Chocolate truffle and Muscle Milk 100% whey.  Both are powders and I make a drink every morning and take some of my vitamins with.  I add a little powdered baking chocolate to the Muscle milk to cut the cocoanut taste....

 I use Muscle Milk Light from Costco.  I heat up the full container (8oz or so) in the micro and
fill the rest of my large cup with another 8 oz of coffee.  20g protein and I love the Mocha
flavor.  I have this every morning.

Several months ago I attended my Doctors Support group meeting. I was talking to a RNY vet who is five years out. He told me that he learned if you have a protein shake within the first hour of waking up in the morning. You will be alert and have more energy through out the entire day.

I tried it and he was right. It made a huge difference.

I start off every morning with a Premier protein (RTD) shake that I buy from Costco. I've seen this mentioned one the main VSG forum many times. It does taste great and has 30 Grams of protein, 5g of carbs. I actually bought a membership just to get these things. I've only been able to find the chocolate. I tried a couple of Costco and that's all they carry. I e-mailed the company and they told me that Costco will be receiving a large shipment throughout the country starting the first week of September. They said by 9/26 every Costco should have the Vanilla.

I still of course do my Smoothie King Gladiator shake, but that's more of a treat as they are about 15 miles from my house. I've tried making my own but it doesn't taste as good as the one you get from the store.

I enjoy a protein drink/smoothie in the morning......

More enjoyable in maintenance cause I add frozen Strawberries or Blueberries.

Now that Mikey mentioned the alertness thing.... I'm gonna be aware of this and see if it works for me.

I have been a fan of Optimum Nutrition's Cake Batter flavor (vanilla-y flavor) for a good while now!  this last order I got Caramel Toffee Fudge and Chocolate Malt and love them both!

I dont have them for a meal, because shakes just dont fill me up, but, they are 24 g protein and 2 or 3 g carbs and I like the flavors, even mixed with water (although the first 2 proteins of the morning are mixed with coffee).

I dont notice a thing about alertness, but well, I get up between 2 and 3, so *meh*  I dont think anything but mainlined espresso and meth are going to help me feel incredibly "alert" :}
