VSG Maintenance Group
For maintenance: what are your daily food stats?
I do. Through experimentation I found I maintain on about 1200 calories a day. No wonder I was fat and had trouble keeping weight off. So my doctor's orders are to eat 70 g protein for life so to make sure I get that and don't overdo the calories I track calories, carbs and protein just like during weight loss. I never tracked fat as by keeping calories low and protein high, it just sort of regulates itself. I stay away from white and refined carbs. I really don't think I can maintain weight loss without tracking and setting goals (of staying below x weight for six months at a time). Sometimes its tiresome but worth the effort and has become second nature now. Diane
I have been in maintenance since mid-April. The only difference is that I eat more calories and a few more carbs (healthy ones). The light finally clicked on in my head. Maintenance is the change in lifestyle that helped us to lose weight. The behaviors have to remain the same to keep the weight off.
I still track and measure my food. This helps me to remain mindful of what I am eating. I have never been a carb nazi and during maintenance they are around 80-100, sometimes a bit more, but never over 130. My program has a top limit for carb recommendation at around 130, but I never get that high. Fats are moderate, about 30-40 grams. Protein is at least 90-100 gr/day.
I exercise about 6-7 days/week, including weight training. I believe that the exercise has helped me to be able to eat more calories/day than most people who do not exercise. I average 1200-1500 cal/day, usually around 1400-1500cal/day. I am only 4'11" and 57 years old.
Welcome to maintenance, the rest of your life.

"People spend a lifetime searching for happiness; looking for peace. They chase idle dreams, addictions, religions, even other people, hoping to fill the emptiness that plagues them. The irony is the only place they ever needed to search was within." - Ramona L. Anderson
The only thing I have ever tracked is protein from the beginning. I do eat carbs but not too much...maybe 75 or 100 grams per day. As far as fat, I just seem to naturally eat a lower fat diet so I have to consciously eat nuts and fish oil to get in enough. I eat about 1500 calories or so per day. But no, I don't formally use a tracking program.

I never tracked regularly and sure don't now. I am sort of generally aware of protein, though, and I'm always trying to increase my fluid since I tend to only drink coffee so I'm working on that.

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.
PM me if you are interested in either of these.

I still track every day. I use the nutrition tracker right here under tools. I still keep my carbs around 40-50/day. My protein always over 70. My calories seem to run around 900-1200/day. I'm still getting the hang of maintenance, and I know it's a lifetime commitment. I never eat breads, cookies, cake, candy, etc. Well, almost never, and never more then a bite. I eat a lot of nuts, 2-3 oz a day. I exercise regularly. I'm sure I'll track for the foreseeable future.
I don't track anymore, but I did for the first year or so of maintenance. Now I let my scale tell me how I am doing as I weigh myself everyday and stay in the 103-107 range. I keep a general idea of how much protein I am getting in, but I don't really track it, just concentrate on getting some at every meal.
I tracked my food for 3 years starting about 6 months pre-op. But eventually I got tired of it. LOL
I spent 3 months with a BodyMedia FIT and it showed me that I could eat to my hunger. I was burning about what I was eating and wasn't hungry and wasn't losing or gaining. So that's when I stopped tracking everything.
