Do you have these cycles?

I'm 7 months out and have noticed some reoccurring cycles I tend to go through in regard to my VSG.

I go through periods of fatigue where I sometimes need two naps a day.
I go through periods (usually accompanied by a stall or slow weight loss) where I don't poop much.
When my bowels get active, that usually signals a period of pound dropping.

-I go through periods where it is easy to stay on program, where I have little or no desire to eat, and where just small amounts of protein do the job.

-Then I go through periods where I am compelled to eat much more- and much more often. These cycles usually have some strong carb craving in the mix.

-During my weight loss phases, my body sometimes looks drawn or frumpy, but during stalls it tends to look healthier, more muscular and more shapely and proportional.

-I often have issues with excess acid in my stomach, especially during a carb craving period, and find that even if I take antacids, carbs are the one thing that best absorbs the acid and makes that feeling go away.

Some of what you said perfectly describes me. Periods of heavy eating (for a sleever) and periods of being anoretic. Irregular pooping schedule, etc... I noticed that my TOM plays a large role in this and see a definite pattern now. The only thing I don't have that you do is the napping thang....but that might be due to my coffee "transfer addiction", lol.

I totally am the same way, it seems like my tom only comes ever 8 weeks and right after it I drop about 3 pounds, and if im going #2 alot I also lose.
I have noticed if I eat anything that is carby, I am hungry for the rest of the day.
The acid thing, not so much but if I eat before I lay down, I wake up  to having that bile crap coming up in my mouth and going down the wrong tube and choking on it, the other night was the worst, alot of it went down the wrong tube and I couldnt breath, and my throat was on fire it was terrible, do you get that???

Are you on an acid reducer or PPI? That might help to decrease the acid reflux that you are having. Also, it might help to elevate your head during the night, so that you don't get that awful reflux. Don't eat just before going to bed, so that the reflux is less.

I have awakened two diffenent nights  with that acidy, burning stuff coming up  in my throat, and it seems that both times, I did not have time to eat supper until very late just before bedtime.  The acidy reflux was so awful.  throat burning and  and literally choaking on the acid.  I have the ppi, and take them in a fairly regular basis, it's just that I don't always remember them, and I don't usually need them, unless I eat late and then go to bed.  That seems to be a NO, NO.

Wishing you all the best, Carol
count your blessings!!!!   At goal weight.   I am 5 ft 3.

I have not had a day yet I was disinterested in food.  :}  But always for real hunger, some is enough.  For head hunger - its just a deal with it kind of deal with me.

I always get extra hungry around my cycle - I mark it on the calendar and so on the 15th (the earliest day my cycle has ever started after the 1st day of a cycle) I start pushing proteins and paring way back on carbs if I have been eating any that were not leafy greens.  Head hunger or "mouth" hunger is a consistent companion when its cycle time, but if I KNOW its coming and make sure I have taken all my vitamins, fish oil, oil of evening primrose, stay well hydrated and push protein, then it helps me to not wander off in the high weeds and try and decide I need to take a new tack on everything.. RIGHT NOW, STARTING WITH THIS TROPICAL TRAIL MIX!!  :}

My body has consistently gone through changes, but less to do with stalls versus loss than it has to do with my weight shifting  It still shifts at this point even, I can be the same weight, say a week apart, and my sternal bones might be more obvious between my pectorals and then another day not so much.  Or my forearms might be leaned out more and I can see the veins in them and my hands, and another day not so much.  My skin also feels different before my weight shifts, softer it seems.  Or one day I might have some wrinkles on my tadpole belly, and another day it seems smooth.

I do not have any acid issues to speak of, but I thought at one point someone had posted that a lot of carbs create a rebound acid issue?  Maybe I dreamt it.  :}  And if so, why in the world cant I dream more exciting things!?

Yep, you're normal.  Guess that means I am too.

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

Thanks gang. It's good to go through this together.

Um, what does TOM stand for? The M is for menstral, right?

That would be "time of month" or TOM as we call it.  And yes everything you are experiencing is normal!

I remembered I took a picture to show surgery scars to someone a few months ago, so I got that picture and looked at my diet power to see how much I weighed.  I weighed 1 pound LESS that morning than I did this morning.  You can see - weighing more or less does not make linear sense when it comes to what skin can look like on any given day.

Weird but that has been consistent, you just cannot know what extra skin is going to look like on any given day!  :}
