Lucky Fawn!!  I doubt that it would work for me since I'm so damned old. lol  But I'm sure happy for you and your success!

My metabolism needs to be constantly reminded to get up out of bed, so exercise is a must for me.  Although I have to say that I feel so much better since doing it.  Can't say I'm addicted, but I AM convinced.

I think I am lucky.. I don't think my metabolism was very damaged prior to surgery. I never really dieted or yo-yo'd with my weight.. Got pregnant twice, gained half my weight each time, lol.

I was actually starting to like the gym before my TT.. Not the actual exercise per se, but how vibrant and healthy it made me feel afterwards. It also helped my insomnia. Once I am cleared I will be going back, albeit slowly.

I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!

Hi Wanda, here are my answers.

1.  135

2.  I eat about 1500 to 1600 calories a day

3.  I exercise 3 times a week now in maintenance.  Each session is 90 minutes long...70 minutes of heavy weight training and about 20 minutes of cardio.  I do have a trainer for all 3 sessions.

4.  I do eat carbs but I always eat protein first therefore naturally limiting them.  But there is nothing totally off limits for me.

5.  My maintenance has been quite easy...surprisingly!

One other thing I wanted to mention is that it took me a full 21 months to lose down to where I am now, so don't give up!

That's exactly what I want to hear, Laura!  Well, except for the 90 minute exercise sessions.  At my age, I'm not sure I could do that.  But I do exercise 5-6 days a week, 30-40 minutes at a time now, so I think I'm getting plenty of exercise.  My goal is to increase my walk from 1 1/2 miles to 2.  Problem is, my knee won't let me go further.  I got a cortisone shot in it yesterday and learned that my knee cap is bone on bone.  No wonder it won't let me go further.  He was actually surprised I'm able to walk as far as I do before having pain.  He told me not to pu**** further, but to keep up what I'm doing.

I do believe you're exercising plenty Wanda!  What we don't want to do is pu**** too much and cause further injury and then not be able to exercise at all.  I too have a bad knee and it's from lifting heavy weights..squatting and such for over 12 years.  So now I just am trying to maintain my fitness.  Also I find when I take a few days off from the gym, my pain is actually worse.  So I need to keep moving to keep the joints lubricated.  I also have 2 bad shoulders as well.  God it sucks getting old, LOL. : )

1)  How much do you weigh now? 117-121. But once I got to a normal BMI, the weight didn't matter. It's body composition that matters to me. I try to keep my body fat % under 20 and to have as many muscles as I can without looking like a lady body builder.

2)  How many (on the average) calories do you eat daily? No idea since I stopped tracking. When I tracked, it was about 2000 a day (though it varied based on time of year.)

3)  How much exercise, and what kind do you do daily? Varies. I work out about 6-10 hours a week in off-season and slowly up it to 10-15 when I'm training for races. I take Dec. off (so 1-3 hours a week). I also was working out more like 15-20 these past 2 months but I am also out of work and was training for an Ironman.

4)  Do you eat carbs or keep them out of your diet as much as possible? I need a lot of protein so that limits carbs somewhat. However, I need carbs too to fuel my workouts. Generally, I try to keep them under 200 g a day.

5)  Do you find that your current eating and exercise habits are making it easy to maintain, or do you fight it day to day. Easy. My set point seems to be where I am so I just eat when I'm hungry, try to eat healthy 80% of the time and watch for bad habits creeping back in.

  1) How much do you weigh now? 148, my normal BMI is 145 so I'm almost there.
2) How many (on the average) calories do you eat daily? 900-1000 I track daily
3) How much exercise, and what kind do you do daily? 1 hour 5-7 times a week. Walking, pilates, gym work.  Early out it was much more.
4) Do you eat carbs or keep them out of your diet as much as possible? I try for under 25 net carbs a day which I get from veggies and protein powder.
5) Do you find that your current eating and exercise habits are making it easy to maintain, or do you fight it day to day.  Daily fight for me to balance food and exercise.  I'll gain at 1100 calories. At 18 months I'm still in the losing phase of all this.  To see the scale drop I have to have a stretch of 800 calorie days which are more difficult at this point.  I'd like to drop another 10 pounds before February so I'm trying to add more muscle to help facilitate that.

How tall are you Lee?  I'm surprised you can only eat 1100 to gain!  I would croak!  We are weighing in pretty close to the same.  I was 145.2 this morning.  Wooo Hooo!

Wanda I'm 5'4".  I know, gaining at 1100 really sux.  I've been on a pretty strict diet every day since the end of month 1.  I thought it would get better when they put me on thyroid meds a year ago but that didn't help either.  The head of the Bariatric Dept came and spoke at a support group meeting.  We talked afterwards and he told me that I should just make peace with the fact that my body needs 1000 calories a day (with an hour of exercise) to maintain my weight.   I guess if this is my reality, I can't really fight it and can just resolve to be a daily tracker and to stay away from carbs if I want to maintain.  Hopefully it will get better as my body settles into maintenance.

1)  How much do you weigh now?
141 lbs. today.  I'm 5'7", age 61.  I have never been this weight as an adult.  Amazing.

2)  How many (on the average) calories do you eat daily?
Between 900-1200.  Average is around 1100 a day.

3)  How much exercise, and what kind do you do daily?
I do not exercise. Bad on me!

4)  Do you eat carbs or keep them out of your diet as much as possible?
I avoid refined carbs, but I don't worry about carbs from dairy, fruit, vegs, nuts, legumes.  I eat full-fat dairy, mayo, etc.

5)  Do you find that your current eating and exercise habits are making it easy to maintain, or do you fight it day to day.  So far it's been pretty easy, but I've only been in maintenance for about 2 months.  Some days are easier than others.
