VSG Maintenance Group
Officially in maintenance mode
Well I did it! - made goal weight of 160 early last week. I am pleased - but really? Kinda anticlimatic as every one of my functional, appearance, and health goals had already been ticked off the list. It does feel good to have followed through and achieved something that seemed impossible when I had my surgery 18 months ago. It took a long 4 months to drop the last 10 lbs.
My plan now is to keep doing what I have been doing and see if that keeps me at a stable weight - I actually don't want to lose more - am getting rather wrinkly, don't want to replace my wardrobe, and husband wishes I were bigger, rather than smaller.
I'm thinking that upping fats a bit will be my strategy if I need more calories - and I may need to start food logging again just to see where I actually am these days with respect to my macros.
Labs and all other health indicators are positive - so I am healthy, feeling strong and looking great in my jeans these days (I can now actually wear my one pair of size 8 jeans, instead of just taking a deep breath, sucking it all in, and posing in them for a picture!) Also, my Spanx are actually becoming optional for most of my outfits - never saw THAT coming!

Congratulations Margo! That's so awesome. I reached my goal of 149 a couple of weeks ago and have been maintaining that. My normal BMI is 145 so now I'm going to push to get there. I still have a lot of fat on me, so I'm hoping to shed more weight. That said, I love being so close to normal.
I'll be watching to see how you manage maintenance as I'm not far behind you.
You've done a great job. Bravo!!

It's terrific that you have reached your goal weight, Margo. I look forward to the day that I am 'officially' at maintenance, which may be around 50 lb away depending on what level of musculature I achieve. I took note of your strategy of using calories from fat if necessary. My own would be to pack on muscle via. more protein immediately after weight training.
