I'm trying something, and it may be dumb.

I don't have any advice to offer, but I have some questions about the documentary because I have heard several people mention this documentary around OH...

I attempted to watch the documentary on Netflix a few weeks ago, but ended up turning if off probably less than 30 minutes into it because I disliked the flow of the narrator/host/main subject guy and his lack of factual information included (in the first 30 minutes that I actually saw, that is...).

Does he ever explain why he decided that fruit and veggie juice only was the way to go to heal his skin/autoimmune condition? I think that was what annoyed me the most is that there was no science or hypothesis behind the juice fast, but maybe later in the movie he explains this better?

Does he consult a doctor or nutritionist or have any personal knowledge of the human body that would explain why a low protein diet would be a good idea?

Does his condition return when his diet returns to solid food and/or incorporates protein?

Also wondered why he couldn't do his fast in Australia, but thats not really an issue, lol.

Maybe if I could have hung in through the whole movie I would know the answers!!

Thanks,
Lindsey

The natural fiber in the fresh fruits and veggies should help fill  you up but I think the protein is about the only way to keep hunger at bay...at least it's that way for me.    I do drink some veggie juice once in awhile - only because I really don't eat enough veggies.  Once I eat my protein, I don't have room for anything else.

I'll be interested in seeing how you do with this.  Keep us up to date!

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

if things seem to work or help, keep doing them. otherwise, keep experiementing.

I never got the point of making everything into juice - eat fruit and veg whole to get the fiber!!!

keep us updated on what you are doing and how it feels, Ok??  smooches!!

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.

I was a raw vegan for a few years.  I ate fruit and veggies along with 2 oz of nuts a day for protein.  I lost slowly, maybe a pound a week for awhile, exercising an hour a day.  When I went off it I gained back 60 pounds.  The thing for me was that I was always hungry.  The sugar spikes are not great for me.  I don't function as well without the protein component.  I did it from 2004 to 2007, sometimes completely on plan, sometimes with some cooked veggies etc.  I think that for me I was feeding my sugar addiction and since I wasn't eating any processed sugar, I thought it was ok.

I was also a fat vegan for 9 years because I ate baby yukon gold potatoes and other grains.  Again, there's that conversion to sugar!

The head surgeon of our Bariatric program recently said that more than a small bit of fruit really doesn't have much place in a bariatric food plan.  I did drop a few pounds when I gave up the fruit (hopefully temporarily) and traded it in for salad and steamed veggies.

Good luck and I hope it works for you.  I love that we're all so different!

My thoughts? Our bodies don't do well with a lot fructose. We're made to have some fruit but not tons of it. Also, everything I've read tells me that we need a lot more protein than the so-called experts believe. (This is everyone, not just the altered.)

I think that guy fixed his physical problems because he lost weight, but I don't think he lost weight in the healthiest way. It's never healthy to cut out whole food groups (unless you have some sort of medical condition like lactose intolerance or a gluten allergy) IMO.
