update on my progress

Well its been 4 weeks since i put myself back on restarting my program and re installing the rules..

So far it has not been hard at all, but it definatly has taught me alot ...restriction has returned alot more than i was expecting it to, for the two weeks of protein shakes i was only getting in half of a premeir protein shake at a time and was full to the brim so i would not push anymore

when i went from all shakes back to food and two shake meals  i have been only eating 2 ounces of protein at a time, that made my calories drop so i pushed my protein shakes to get in a whole one it just took longer to get it all in...  have had no hunger what so ever.. my cravings have been for protein foods.. a far cry from canoli or baklava...

so what i have learned is, it was what i was eating which indeed was creating the hunger
i no longer eat every 3 hours i eat only 3 times a day if i need a snack its a popsicle..

so the results so far at 4 weeks  is 16 pounds down and am now 6lbs from my goal of 138... i will be trying to stay away from any junk food for as long as possible so i have time for  this to again become my new normal..

Hi Linda,
So good to see you and hear from you!!  I'm exactly where you were at 2 weeks ago.

Did you gain back some weight?

So how did you begin?   Are you talking about protein shakes "only" for 2 weeks and then re-entering food?

yeah my initial gain was over christmas, which i could not get off  i tried for 4 months lol.. then i had a husband who started bringing me home coffee after work, i wont blame him because i drank them, but i recently found out his loving treat had 700 calories  per drink... then add that to my new found addiction since surgery, canoli and cakes.. the enevitable happened i bounced up over 20lbs from where i want to be...

I went back to complete basics afteri reading on another forum where a surgeon stated to do shakes to get regain off.. then another poster posted  on the grad forum where she went back to her surgeons restart program and he put her on 3 shakes and two bars for two weeks... so i decided to go back and re do my program.. after 2 weeks of shakes  (i added broth at 20 cals a cup if i was hungry)  then  i added in a protein meal and will do that now til goal and then slowly add back another meal and see how that goes..
Im not doing snacks i dont find im hungry at all .

Amazes me what I find when I come back to this board.  I was asking someone on OH "where is everyone?"  And....now I know :)  Many of you have been here all along, it's probably the one's who may be struggling that may be lurking....and hopefully they will come back after reading posts like this!  Honesty baby!  That's what I'm talkin' about!  Love you !!

Thank you, I needed to hear this. I knew it was true but I've been sabatoging myself with poor choices and snacking all day as a result.

Glad to hear you're back on track.  It's tough, but we can all do it!

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

VSG on 09/01/08 with
Linda,

When you were doing the all shakes days, how many shakes a day did you allow?  When I did my pre-op, I did 5 to 6 shakes a day.  I have been thinking a lot about that lately.  I do great during the day, it is night that kills me.

Congrats on your success.  You are showing me that it CAN be done!!!

Blessings....Dee

well i was allowing three so i knew i was getting in my protein,.. and then filled up on broth if i was hungry...

the poster on the grad board who did her surgeons reboot program was told 3 shakes and 2 bars for two weeks...

the surgeon in new zealand who said to do protein shakes didnt say how many just if you regain return to protein shakes til you get it off..

well i was fine doing nothing but protein shakes for a couple of weeks ... this time of year with the weather being nice made it easy.. But i was ready for adding in a 2 ounce meal of protein with 2 shakes as well after that..

It's great to see you back where you'd like to be.  I never had a regain, but I also was just short of my 100 pound goal.  I read somewhere on OH that they were doing the Ideal Protein Diet and googled it immediately.  I started doing it, but using alternative products and I don't go to one of their weigh in centers.  I learned as much as I could about it and it was really just our type of basics.

They do three shakes/bars/wonderslim type packets of all sorts.

B.  Shake or 100 calories pudding
L.   2 cups cooked or raw veggies and a shake/bar or pudding
S.   Anytime during the day - 1 packet of shake etc
D.   2 cups cooked or raw veggies,  5-8 oz lean protein (I eat 3-4)
Unlimited lettuce through out the day.

I dropped 5 pounds the first week.  Then I took 2 weeks off to maintain the loss.  Yesterday started back into the losing phase.   Once at your goal, it goes to 2 shakes and 2 lean protein meals a day.

They have restricted and non restricted packets/bars/shakes, based on the calories and carb counts.  I'm using Wonderslim, BariWise, ProtiDiet and my standard protein powders and Quest Bars because I want the fiber.  They have diet centers where you can go pay them $27 for a 7 packet box of Bariwise type products and bars.  I don't do that.
