I need to work out but.....
I have a million excuses not to.
There's no place to walk around here, everything is steep hills with no sidewalks
I cannot afford a gym membership or even the 24/7 place
The kids always get in my way and I'm not movtivated by work out videos
I'm tired (whine)
I'll start when I quit smoking besides smoking will make working out hard
Grrrr I'm mad at myself. I would really like to join a local gym opening but we just can't afford it. I want to try bellydancing and hooping but the classes cost money and are a 30 minute drive..
But..but..but! Where is my motivation!?

When you find something you love to do, motivation will be easy!
If money is a problem and getting time is a problem then how about doing something for 5 minutes every hour? How about doing something with the kids ... just playing in the yard with them is still exercise.
The reasons to move your ass (aka play aka working out) is to:
-make maintenance easier
-improve your health and stamina
-improve the appearance of your skin
-live longer
-improve your mood

I'm in the same boat. I'm active... I move... I do stuff... but... I. Hate. Working. Out.
Joined the gym for a couple months. Hated it. Quit. Exercising just to exercise seems unproductive to me. I'd rather go kayaking or swimming.
I don't know. I think I may just become a male prostitute, because that's something that I enjoy and can do everyday.

Current weight: 170 lbs.
Once I reach goal, this cow will be killed & eaten... 2 ounces at a time.
Total includes 56 lbs. lost on 2-month low carb pre-op diet. Start date 9/13/10.
Kayaking and swimming are working out.
Not everyone is cut out for the gym and it's not the only way to be healthy and active!

I don't know if this is an option for you, but I figured I'd put it out there...
A friend of mine who has a 3 year-old and a newborn and no job was able to negotiate a free membership with the YMCA. She had gone to a couple of water aerobics classes to try them out and the routines are simple so she is a "substitute" instructor for the morning class. Her children go to the nursery on site so she gets free child care while she's working out or substituting a class. Maybe you could work out something like that somewhere...
BTW...she's MO and had never taught/taken classes before the YMCA, but she's got an outgoing personality and was highly motivated.
Good luck!

I have to find my motivation, too, since I lost weight and maintain without having to do it! I am trying to keep my brain cells functioning, did you know regular exercise decreased your chances of getting dementia? seriously!
what MacMadame said - try something you enjoy. horseback riding, swimming, roller skating, dancing.
I will NOT go to a gym, it's too much work. but I dance at home with the music blasting and I take walks. it's going well.

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.
PM me if you are interested in either of these.
