Increase calories? Which ones?
I hit 268 on my 1 year mark. I have struggled to lose since then and got to 249. I exercise an hour every day, I eat 800-1000 calories and less than 40 carbs with 100 g protein, 80+ ounces of water.
My Nut says to increase my calories to 1300 for 3 weeks. I am afraid to do that! It is so hard to lose and if I gain I will freak!
She didn't say what to increase to bring the calories up. So strange! I know I shouldn't eat more carbs, my protein is already high. Do I increase fat?

Boy I am not sure about this one as my surgeon and nut say not to up calories until weight is lost. But if you are going to increase calories, some fats are a pretty good way assuming you can't just increase portion size of what youa re eating now. I think you are right to stay away from the carbs. My surgeon just told me that if I wanted to put a few pounds back on to do it with complex carbs. So that leaves fats. A little peanut butter or cheese sure can add some calories easily. Hope this all works out for you. Diane
Mine recommended a more of a switch up, but NOT consistently every day. My nut was like - try to do 800 - 1000 - 1200 - 1400 in a cycle for about 2 weeks. It is a way to shake up your metabolism. I would really only do about a 10 day cycle - it is still hard for me to get in 1400 calories everyday - period.
I ate more of my protein - I also added a snack to up my calories - I used nuts to up the calories.

I honestly don't know how you can keep your calories so low. I eat around 1100-1200 calories a day. When I try and go lower I get jittery, hungry and foggy brain. I would like to still lose a few more pounds but I don't know how I can go lower. My advice would be to try it and see what happens. Keep us posted.
First..... big props to you on your WL.....!!!
I'm pretty sure my surgeon would go the other way.... lower the cals to 600-800
I can tell you from personal experience...when WL became harder for me.... I ate closer to the 600Cal. side......
I now eat about 1300 (1000-1400) cals. to maintain.
For me..... maintaining wasn't to much different than WL.... I just added a little more cals and allow myself about 80grams carbs.
If I were you.... I would call on Jimbo....he has much experience on WL after a year. As much as I kid with him..... that dude knows what's up.
Hope this helps and if you ever need any info from my experience....just PM me.

Thanks Frisco! I know your doctor's program is very strict on carbs and my program never was. In fact according to my plan I should eat, 5 small meals, one lean and green, 1050 cal and 75 carbs a day! I never went that high, 60 mostly and the last two months I brought it down to 40. I think that's as low as I can go before I get the brain fog. This week I will try for 30 and see what happens. I see his patients really peeling off the pounds so there must be something to it.
I am really getting desperate to lose more. Everyone knows I have had WLS and don't see me losing like I did in the first year. It's embarrassing and disappointing to me that I haven't gotten closer to my goal this year.
