This article fits with my post-op experience.  But keep in mind, it works both ways!

Thanks, Rana!  That article pushed me over the edge; I just got up and made a salad!  Been trying to get back on track forEVER, and am having a dickens of a time.  Now I can remind myself that if I eat the good stuff, I will crave the good stuff.  Hot dawg ... figuratively speaking !

Good for you, Dorothy!  I was hoping that it might be encouraging for folks to know that it IS possible to crave the stuff that's good for your body instead of craving junk foods.  Glad to hear that you're givin' it a try!

Rana,
I completely agree with this article.  Even before having the VSG I noticed the same thing.  After losing weight and eating healthy for a while, I would crave clean, healthy foods.  The problem is that I would always slip up in the end and start to eat more food, or unhealthy food.  This time around I seem to be able to control it by limiting the amount of unhealthy food and by only having it on special occasions and never in my house.  Great article, thank you for sharing.

I think there's a lot of truth in this article.  Prior to surgery I ate salads daily, sometimes 2x a day.  That first year post-op of trying to eat mostly protein really left me craving salad.  During that first year if there were veggies on my plate, I wanted to go for those first.  I'm still the same way.  I eat salad 2x a day now and really could care less about the protein but know it's necessary.  If I were eating fruit, that's all I'd want.  I would live on it if I could be thin and healthy.  Sugar addict?  Probably.   :)

very good link, Rana - thanks for posting it!

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.

PM me if you are interested in either of these.
