NSV and when do you know your finished losing weight???
So I walked away and was wondering when did anyone know there body was finished losing weight it has been 3 weeks and I have not lost weight till this am 2 lbs gone so I guess I am not done with weight loss yet.
But I based it entirely on appearance and body fat % and not on the scale.
Also, later on I decided to put on 5 pounds of muscle. (Well, I didn't have 5 pounds as a goal, just to build up my strength, but that's what happened.)
Looking back, I think maybe I shouldn't have tried to hard to stop losing weight but just started eating to my hunger and see what happened. But I can't object to my results so it's not an enormous regret, more of a "I wonder what would have happened" regret.

I have one of those scales that you step on and it calculates the Body fat %. My Doctors office has one of those scales as well but different manufacturers.
There's a huge difference between the two. I would like to think that the Doctors office scale is calibrated every so often where mine isn't.
Just curious as to how you do it. I seem to remember that a dunk tank was the best way to determine...although I don't know where to find one.
Highest Weight: 380 Consult Weight: 357 Surgery Weight: 309
Goal Weight: 220 (9/29/10) Revised Goal Range 215-220 Current Weight: 224
Plastics: Circumferential Lower Body Lift - 11/18/2011
Gynecomastia - 6/14/2012
Those scales are only good for measuring relative changes. And the doctor's office scale isn't necessarily better than yours, just different.
Here's the different ways in order by most accurate to least:
DEXA scan
Dunk tank or BodPod (both use displacement; one uses water, one uses air)
Calipers used by a well-trained operator
Bio impedience (what the scales use)
Calipers used by a crappy operator

To some extent your body decides when its done, but don't be deluded into thinking thats what has happened when really your are eating more and moving away from your weight loss program (which we all have done). So you must be still on your program if you lost a couple more. I would say if you want to lose more, stay on it right now and don't wait until later and wish you had lost more. Get all you can off now. revisit your food journal and calorie count and make sure you are still in weight loss mode. When you get to where you are ok, which may be here pretty quick, increase calories 100 per day for a week or so and repeat until you stop. I had a little trouble stopping losing and got a little low but my surgeon thinks its fine. Took awhile to find the maintenance sweet spot and it may always be a moving target but I think I am at it.
So my doctor told me when he thought I was done and i accidently lost a few more but he says its ok. While its nice to have an exact number as a goal, most of us really have a comfort range and thats ok. I know you will know it when you are there. Diane
That's because you went and changed on them and they aren't used to it. Heck, I have a friend who was told she looked like a crack ***** when she had a BMI of 30! Yep, she was still technically obese and clearly not too thin, but her family was ragging on her like she had a BMI of 16 or something.
So you just have to ignore them. They'll get used to you eventually.

For me, I found that weight training helped a lot with those "too thin" feelings. Putting on muscle did up the scale a bit but it also made me less boney. So I'm the same size as I was before but you can't see my ribs or spine any more.
