Elina...
Hi Donna,
I am still alive just crazy busy in a wonderful Summer is here sort of way. The kids are home from camp and I am driving everybody everywhere for play-dates and Summer activities while still trying to work. In the middle of it all, I had my birthday and anniversary and my husband took me away for each of these occasions for overnights at some of our favorite places. It's been fun but a bit exhausting keeping up with everyone at home. I have not been on the computer at all for the past few weeks and time has just gotten away from me. I am still around and I still need and miss you guys it's just that I am more active now then I have ever been before. We have three more trips planned for this Summer and there are only three weeks left until the kids go back to school, I don't know what we were thinking! We are going white water rafting, hiking and one trip that my husband planned and will not tell me anything about, he said it's a surprise! I hope he knows what he's doing, he told me to pack something fancy, so he's on the right track. :)
I hope all is well with you and I will have to do some back reading to catch up with everyone. Weight wise, I gained a bit and am at 106.2 now, but I was up to 107.6 and am now on a down slide. I am not worried as I still feel like it is under control. I want to get back to under 105 by the end next week. I am pretty sure I can do it.
We went to an A's baseball game the other day and then my husband wanted to take the kids to Fenton's in Oakland. If you have never heard of this place, just think about an old fashioned ice cream parlor with Sunday's the size of your head. That was a true test for me as ice cream is my weak-spot. We ordered one Sunday and split it and I had about 1cup worth. I sure paid for it with huge hunger and cravings the next day, but in truth it was still worth it. I have been extra good ever since that little extravagance and the weight has turned back around and is heading in the right direction. The important thing is the little tight jeans still fit, so I'm calling it a victory. :)

Oh, that Fenton's--I know it well! It's a pretty famous landmark, and you're right the portions are HUGE. I haven't been there post vsg, but I've done plenty of damage there in my day! Ice cream is my downfall, too. I can't keep it in the house. When I was a freshman in college, I got a job at Swensen's Ice Cream in Berkeley. MISTAKE--I wasn't really heavy at that point, but I packed on the Freshman Fifteen pretty fast at that job! Everyone said, oh, you'll get sick of ice cream working there...um, nope, never happened!
Glad you're having a fun summer...we are, too. We went to Sausolito today with some friends who are visiting from back east. I hadn't been there for years. And we're going to a Giants game this month!
One of my Christmas gifts from my husband was a voucher to stay a couple of nights at this place:

It's a Lighthouse and B&B on a teeny tiny island on the Bay. So we're trying to work that in this summer as well...

Lizanne, the B&B you are talking about is on my list of places I want to go with my husband! I have been looking at their website for over a year now and dropping hints to Alan. It looks wonderful. You are going to have to tell me how you liked it after your visit. There is also a "cabin" like place in a tree, I guess you would call it a tree-house that I would like to stay at. You take a little tram up to the top of the tree and all the walls are made out of glass. It is supposed to be incredible during a storm. My friend stayed there and could not stop talking about it. I love strange, out of the way places to visit.
I love Sausalito and am sure you had a great time visiting there with friends. Summer is wonderful and it is so much more fun when we are thin.

I had an office across the street from Fenton's for 18 years. For those years I was mostly either vegan or low carb so I really escaped the place. I did have lunch there one day with a co-worker who loved their crab salad sandwiches. I tasted their ice cream once when I was there with co-workers for someone's birthday.
You did great sticking to 1 cup!! :)

When I was a little girl, I lived in Oakland and my mom would take me to Fenton's whenever I had a bad day. We would always order their crab sandwich and an ice cream Sunday to share. Needless to say I packed on the pounds. You are lucky you didn't do much damage when you worked close by. How is your Summer going?
Oakland hasn't had much summer yet. My heat is on this morning. Yesterday morning was 57 and raining. WTF? This is August. We can generally count on things being beautiful by now. Last weekend I took a pile of new linen clothes back to Macy's. I told the woman that summer never came and that now they don't fit anymore.
Summer in general is great. I spent 2 weeks in Spain in June. It was killer hot everywhere except Barcelona which was mild. The rest of the trip it was over 100 daily. I was amazed to walk 15.5 miles in Cordoba on a day that was 105.6. It was pretty cool to stay inside the walled Jewish City there. We only stayed a night there on the way to Madrid. The art everywhere was amazing. The food wasn't very good so we went to farmer's markets daily to buy picnics.
You're right, summer is so much more fun when we're THIN!
