(X-Post) NORMAL!!!! (I have evidence!)

Today I finally dropped a pound, after being stalled for about 2 months, and now weigh 164 pounds. This means that my body weight now falls in the "normal" range according to the Body Mass Index (BMI). No longer morbidly obese, no longer obese, no longer overweight. WOOT!

The great news for me is I now have low blood pressure, low blood sugars, very low triglycerides, cholesterol in the "healthy"range, body fat in the "healthy" range, body weight in the "normal" range, no more arthritis pain, no more stress incontinence - in short, none of the health problems associated with obesity (save for the arthritic damage already in place at the time of my surgery.) I've been proactive about my supplementation, and about being tested for those vitamins and minerals that are sometimes difficult for WLS patients to absorb - so I have maintained good levels of calcium (as evidenced by bone scan), vitamins B12 and D, and iron.

What this means is that every single health problem that I had pre-op and that could be reversed or improved is now resolved.

And THAT my friends is weight loss surgery success!

Such a great post. We all rave about being able to fit into smaller jeans and such but the truth is that this is all  about regaining health and the 10 years of extra life that statistics show we have all "gained". So celebrate and care for your body. You deserve it. Health = success. Diane

And ... it's not just 10 years of extra life - it's many years of a good life, rather than a life in which I was unwell, in pain, and unable to participate in many things... with a future of certain disability looming before me. This has been such a gift!

Rock on Margo!  Your surgery was 2 days ahead of mine.  I hope to be able to post the same "Normal" post very shortly!  Congratulations on a job well done.  :)

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.
