9 days without weighing (and other OT news)
This past 9 days has been an interesting experiment. I took an 8 day trip (extended to 9 days thanks to the pack of idiots known as Continetal Airlines). I went back to the midwest to see my mom and others including brother who got sleeved 6 weeks ago.
So staying at the guest suite at the retirement community where my mom lives, there was no scale and while I probably could have found one, I don't like weighing on any but my own syn-tech barriatric scale. The result was an 8 day experiment to see if I could maintain (and not gain or lose) weight on a trip of this length. I had meals out with friends, meals in the dining room at the retirement home, and many in my mom's appartment with stuff I purchased including greek yogurt. My mom has lost a lot of weight due to parkinsen's disease and its a challenge to get her to eat enough. I gotta admit I had some ice cream a few times since mom will eat it and needs the calories. I kept portions small. I also ate a "Runza" which only people who are from certain parts of the midwest even know what it is, (bet Wanda knows) but divided it into two meals. A food I fondly remember from childhood.
Anyway, finally weighed today and held steady at 118 lbs; same as before I left. So it was good to know I could manage a longer trip, eat in airports where I spent far too much time, deal with the geriatric menu and find something appropriate, and overall do fine. Got my mom snacking on unsalted almonds which is good for her.
So it is possible to take an extended trip and not blow everything. There were cookies and ice cream available all the time and other temptations but my sleeve did not let me down. Yeah, this was not a cruise ship or resort where there is constant food but it worked ok. It only took about one day to get people to stop trying to push food on me.
Brother is doing great. I can see a big difference in him. He posts as Roundater. I went to his support group and had a great time and met some new sleevers.
And the big news today is that the Great Dog Chippie is indeed going to be a daddy as confirmed by an ultrasound. Due later in August. And his AKC Championship certificate arrived today.
Life is good.

life IS good!
I know people feel like there are things they need to do every day - like weigh and track - and maybe they do. but I think the ultimate goal probably should be to at least head in the direction of being able to do maintenance with a looser, more intuitive approach.
but, whatever works!!

once upon a time I had a group to talk about Binge Eating Disorder, and later one about Clean Eating.
PM me if you are interested in either of these.
