My One Year Surgiversary!
Saturday was my birthday and today is my 1 year surgiversary -- I'm so glad they are so closely tied together. I'm healthy, happy and where I want to be in my life. I'm so happy to have discovered OH over 2 years ago. Some of you know that I fought to have my WLS for 1 year. Naive me, thinking my insurance would just ok my surgery and that would be that. I took that year to learn about the way people deal with life after WLS....boy, what great lessons I learned from y'all!!!
I was finally approved for my VSG (sleeve) after many appeals. I've lost a total of 105 pounds: in the past year since my surgery I've lost 58 pounds and I'd lost 47 pounds while I waited for insurance approval. I do not want to lose any more and plan on having plastics in the fall. I currently wear size 3/4 jeans and small/medium tops.
I was in Macy's yesterday. Yup, I ventured over to the children's department to see what kind of girls' jeans/pants they had since I can fit in 14/16. It is a mind-blower for sure to fit into a child's garment....sometimes I can't believe it and sometimes I find it hard to remember that I was 105 pounds bigger. Yet I still relate to being a fat girl, though some fat girls differ with me on that, lol. But I think you guys know what I mean.
These are a couple of pics that tell a little of my story. Just yesterday I received my new drivers license. I got tired of explaining my weight loss when producing it and a police officer had advised me to change the pic. The other pic was taken in the spring of 2009, a few months before I embarked on my weight loss journey. The after shot was just a couple of months ago at a Long Island WLS Expo.
I am grateful for your guys' friendship and support in my journey. I'm sending you all great big hugs!!!

Congratulations! You have had an incredible journey. I, too, had the drivers' license issue, at one point where a cashier refused to accept my credit card because she insisted that I was not the person on my drivers' license. I had to assure her and tell her my surgical story. But the next day, I made an appointment for a new license :)
Keep up the good work and much success!
