So......we all been there....

Our minds are so accustomed to regular stores not having our size (I was a 4X).......

And wishful thinking......thinking we wear a smaller size....only to try something on in the dressing room and having to do the walk of shame...... getting a larger size......

Yesterday I ran into a store to get a new Dickies Work Shirt..... I have a few in Large....but that was for 50lbs. ago...

I ask the lady for a black short sleeve in medium...........she comes back and has two on hangers for me to try on......hands me the medium.....than hands me another one and says "I think your a small"

Well....she wasn't to wrong....... I got the medium cause I like em a little loose and I like the option of wearing a heavy long sleeve tee underneath.....

So than I see these pants.....nice soft sturdy denim like industrial material.... I ask her for 31's.... she comes back with 32's and says this is the smallest we have... try em on.....I try em on....way to big...I probably need a 30 in these........than she try's to sell me a belt !!!!

I'm still not used to this new dialog......

Isn't that the truth!  I still am shocked at smaller sizes.  I was a size 22 for soooo long.  I just bought new scrubs in a size XS, I keep expecting them to be too tight, but really, they are baggy.  Love it!  I'm still shopping at second hand stores because I don't want to waste money (on me?) on cloths that I don't know will fit for long.

Frisco, the coolest part of this experience is that you felt great about yourself and asked for help.  I remember those days of getting completely dressed again and doing that "walk of shame" to get a bigger size, too embarrased to let someone know what size I really was.

I LOVE putting on my size 10 jeans and holding up my size 22/24 that I was pre-op and just starring in the mirror.  I'll be really happy when I have more than one pair of size 8's that fit!!  If I could walk into a store and pull any size 8 off the rack and have it fit, I'd feel like I had finally arrived and could look at this as the maintenance phase.

Yay!

But I'm not used to it either. I went shopping this afternoon...and was trying on slim "pencil" skirts. I grabbed what I thought was an 8 (thinking I def. needed a 10) and I was convinced it wasn't going to fit. To my surprise, it fit and looked great. And then I took it off, and looked at the tag...it was a 6! What the...! and from J. Crew none the less. Crazy.

I think our self images are still pretty skewed (sic?)  I still put find that I look at something and think that there's no way it will fit, then it not only fits, but is a little loose!  Love those NSVs!

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.
